So whose watched the new trailer? Netflix twitter account has it up and it's brilliant. Apparently it is an interactive episode?

Glad I'm not going to work tomorrow cause I feel I'd be phoning in sick! So Excited!

Thanks for the heads up.
Telly has been shite so I needed that!

TheFirstOHN · 27/12/2018 16:39

Rumour says there's five hours of footage available; each viewer will see 90 minutes of it (different options depending on the choices they make).

Santasonmynaughtylist · 27/12/2018 16:45

I'll watch it tonight, haven't seen the trailer though.

TheFirstOHN · 27/12/2018 17:19

I'm planning to watch during the daytime tomorrow so I may have to hide the thread for a few hours to avoid spoilers.

CantstandmLMs · 27/12/2018 17:30

Its up as of 8am tomorrow. The last series was phenomenal .

The completist in me is bothered by the choosing your own episode thing 🤦🏻‍♀️

Soubriquet · 27/12/2018 17:35

Ooooo thank you for the heads up

TheFirstOHN · 27/12/2018 17:39

If you map the decision tree as you go, you could watch all available combinations.

itsbritneybiatches · 27/12/2018 17:45

I haven't watched the trailer. I am
Very excited
Though.

So you will be able to choose endings and stuff!!

I am driving all day tomorrow and away
Tomorrow night I am going to save it for when everyone is out of the house and I can watch it in peace.

TheFirstOHN · 28/12/2018 11:30

Just need to find a device it will actually work on. Apparently our TV isn't smart enough.

TheFirstOHN · 28/12/2018 13:14

I've reached three different endings now. I really need to go and do some real life.

CantstandmLMs · 28/12/2018 17:30

I watched it and enjoyed it!! Explaining to him I'm controlling him via Netflix 😂 so much fun!!

I did get a bit involved in watching alternative endings though and I'm thoroughly confused.

So the main question is....did you chose Frosties or sugar puffs?

OP posts:
PawneeParksDept · 28/12/2018 17:35

I've watched it I started an unanswered thread and felt alone!

I've seen four out of the five endings and know what the fifth is

All bleak obvs!

I do think what they've done is an outstanding achievement though, just from a concept and technical perspective

Imagine being told 20 years ago that one day you'd watch a tv episode and you'd be able to pick what the character did

You'd have been like MWAHAHA no! Like THAT'S ever going to be technologically possible

And yet here we are.

And it got so meta about that too

TheFirstOHN · 28/12/2018 18:21

I've had two full goes now (resetting in between) and have seen most of the endings.

Soubriquet · 28/12/2018 20:18

I sort of get the the whole thing but has left me very confused too

What is the ultimate ending supposed to actually be?

PawneeParksDept · 28/12/2018 20:40

I think the takeaway is that the joke is on the viewer

Stefan gives his verdict on the successful Bandersnatch as

"In the end there was no choice only the illusion of choice"

There is no path you can choose with a good outcome for Stefan.

He always ends up dead or in prison.

TheFirstOHN · 28/12/2018 20:56

Or alive but having released a mediocre version of the game.

In the ending where the game gets a 5* review, S tells the psychiatrist about his revelation that the answer was to remove a lot of the choice, so the player thinks they have options but actually takes the path the designer always intended.

TheFirstOHN · 28/12/2018 21:04

For me, the two must-see endings are those below:
(spoilers below, obviously):

  1. The ending where the game gets a 5* review and we see the scenes set in the present day where it's being remade as the episode we're watching.
  1. The ending where he gets the toy rabbit back and takes the train with his mum (followed by the credits with the audio data for the spectrum game).

At some point, it's also worth seeing the scene in the TV studio.

PawneeParksDept · 28/12/2018 21:04

But the mediocre game wasn't an ending, it just resets.

The endings are

Netflix Ending 1 (fight)
Netflix Meta Ending
Stefan chooses his Mum
Dad is Dead/Therapists receptionist calls the police
Dad is Dead/Craig Calls The Police
He Chops Up Dad/Bandersnatch succeeds but he gets caught
Craig and Dad die/Tuckersoft goes bust
Stefan commits suicide whilst high

I think that's it but there's the PAC password as well, I think that just leads to him killing Dad

BitOfFun · 29/12/2018 00:38

I've just watched it and thought it was brilliant! There is definitely a sense that we are ALL being controlled though, which I guess is the take-home message. Fascinating.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 29/12/2018 21:17

I'm stuck in a loop.

TheFirstOHN · 29/12/2018 21:59

OhYouBadBadKitten are you still in there, or have you managed to escape?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 29/12/2018 22:52

Grin I've escaped! or have I?

CantstandmLMs · 29/12/2018 23:51

I watched it again today and think I've seen all endings but no way to know if I've seen all the footage. Seen lots of different reviews of the game though.

I've been stuck in lots over Christmas being ill and then just not wanting to go out and today after watching it again I stayed to feel a bit like I was going mad like Stefan so took myself out for an hour long walk and vowed not to try and watch it again!! Confused

OP posts:
Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 30/12/2018 21:12

Very clever

We were just pleased to have 'escaped' the film with Stefan choosing his mum

I would look at it again, though ive just texted ds1 about it which might be a mistake as he has quite a compulsive personality

WhentheDealGoesDown · 10/01/2019 11:37

Is it easy to work on a tv as someone upthread mentions TV not being smart enough, is it easier to watch on a iPad
