More a rant than anything and thought this was the most appropriate place ha.

New home owners so clueless here but how do they get away with being so fraudulant as to charge you for a year but potentially actually only give you 11 months!? I put the hypothetical situation to him of what if I purchased on the last day of any given month and he said it would expire on the last day of the previous month.

Just took out my TV License today and on confirming it said it will expire on 30/11/2019. Phoned up as assumed it must be an error and got told they work on a month by month basis not date to date... so we have paid for a full year but lost 18 days.

I was also told it would take 21 days to geta refund... what a joke.

I really wouldnt have bothered asking for a refund?!

Why not? We BARELY use the actual TV - Netflix all the way for us. And was tempted not to use it at all based on their fraudulent activity.

Wait until you choose to only watch Netflix/Amazon and stop getting a licence. You'll see where your previous money was being squandered - menacing letters in the post every month. We all think they squander money on over-paid celebs and the £60+ million on a new Eastenders set. That's only half the story. Anybody have a link to how much is spent by their collection agency on post?
