Not much detail but it'll be out next year!

Yay! Can't wait!

Hurray! I'm currently rewatching the whole thing on amazon prime. I do wonder how they will make the movie different to the episodes though, some of which were feature length.

I'm trying to figure out when it's set. When did the last series finish? Around 1925? I'm trying to work out what all that flag waving in the trailer is for. Potentially the silver jubilee but it seems unlikely that they'd skip to 10 years on - the Dowager would be about 200!

I'm sooooo excited!

I thought maybe they could stretch to 1929 and Wall Street Crash though it's possibly unlikely they'd do another losing all the money story?

PatchworkElmer · 14/12/2018 20:59

So exciting!

It doesn't give much away does it? I can't wait!

When is it out?

Looking at that trailer makes me realise for the first time what’s always been missing from DA: any sense of the house and grounds itself as a character. No children sneaking out to play hide and seek among the chimney-pots (or under-footmen having a crafty snuggle with the scullery maids). No favourite trees, hahas or gazebos. No dry rot or leaking roofs. No legends of ghosts or that time that Liz I came to stay and nearly ate the second Earl out of house and home. Disappointing really.

It says trailer coming soon at the end, so that's not the actual trailer, just a teaser.

And god I hope Branson is in it ❤️❤️❤️

That's very true, River. The house is like a stage setting rather than a home.

Also, the bizarre staff ratio: this seems to be a place that needs a butler and an underbutler and 2 ladies' maids, but can get on without any laundry maids and very little in the way of scullery maids, gardeners, grooms and odd-job-men. The only person ever seen doing any maintenance is Thomas mending a clock. Who does the washing up once Daisy has been promoted to assistant cook? Does Lady Grantham sneak down and do that in the middle of the night?

Also, especially in the later series, they seem to do very little entertaining.

Queen" the television series ended at the stroke of 12 on New Year 1926; rumours have it that the film will start 2 years later, so 1928.
