As well as the Abba songs, each act is singing a 'Song that will get them to the final' a.k.a tenuous reason to just sing anything.

And I think Robbie is back. Have we missed him?

Girls
Scarlett Lee
This Is Me by Kesha
Winner Takes It All by ABBA

Groups
Acacia & Aaliyah
Blinded By Your Grace / I Win by Stormzy / Lethal Bizzle
Money, Money, Money by ABBA

Overs
Danny Tetley
This Is My Life by Shirley Bassey
Thank You For The Music by ABBA

Boys
Anthony Russell
Livin' On A Prayer by Bon Jovi
Name Of The Game by ABBA

Brendan Murray
Run by Snow Patrol
I Have A Dream by ABBA

Dalton Harris
Feeling Good by Muse
S.O.S. by ABBA

A mixed bag- I think Dalton will have a good stab at 'Feeling Good' (not really sure why it is attributed to Muse, the arrangement is very similar to the original on their version).
Simon might be sulking, but 'Winner Takes it all' could be a, erm, winner Grin
I can't stand TTT or Bon Jovi, so that's a no, and Brenda is going end up sounding like the Westlife version of 'I had a Dream'. Only as if a breathless little girl was singing it. (I hope he gets a stool for the key change Grin ).

I need lots of snacks. Grin

3 acts apparently leaving this weekend. Seems over very quick! Know its been pointless having the final and single released close to Christmas as they've done badly lately but still.

Yay This is me... Again!

Raahh · 24/11/2018 15:07

Yes, I think they gave up a few years back on the Christmas number one thing- but next week will be the earliest final ever. Seems far too early.

All of December to fill Saturday night with something else!!

I'm blocking out any connections to TGS and pretending they aren't happening Grin

The80sweregreat · 24/11/2018 17:12

I love that Stormzy song.

Raahh · 24/11/2018 17:17

80s I do too, and it's finally something that is in A and A's comfort zone.

OP posts:
The80sweregreat · 24/11/2018 17:19

It's very good!
Hope we're all well ; thanks for thread raahh.

Raahh · 24/11/2018 17:48

no probs, 80s can't believe we are nearly at the end of another series.

it's not been a great year. I feel pretty indifferent to all of them. To annoy the producers, I want Teabag to win.

OP posts:
The80sweregreat · 24/11/2018 17:56

Teabag winning would be awesome! I guess it will be Dalton though ; if Ireland are voting for Brendon big time there may be an upset! ( with us lot anyway!)
Whoever does get the crown needs to realise it's not the prize it once was. Although a slot on Good morning ' may beckon instead!

The80sweregreat · 24/11/2018 18:04

Not realised before now but Louis is the judge with the most acts remaining! His doing lots right.

Raahh · 24/11/2018 18:04

It certainly isn't- there's no Andy Peters rushing around to make a cd Grin, and obviously the Christmas number 1 thing is no longer a given. There's not really much money involved , and no multi album deal- if their singles flop, they will be luck to stick around after the first year.

For the past 7/8 year, it's really only been about filling Saturday telly between September -Christmas. Only now they aren't even bothering to do that. Finding a 'star' is just incidental, if it happens, fine, if not, no biggy.

OP posts:
The80sweregreat · 24/11/2018 18:08

No ; it's had it's day thats for sure.

Andy Peters is on in the mornings flogging the ( expensive) quizzes to win cars and what not!

I guess the saturdays running up to Xmas will be filled with Christmas films or Harry Potter / lord of the rings films once this is over.

Raahh · 24/11/2018 18:08

80s I think someone on the thread last week may have had a point- I'm not sure it's his acts so much as the real power of the Wandies fanbase. Apparently they are quite vocal on twitter, too. I think Dalton deserves to be there, Brenda, not so much. And he should never have been allowed to mentor his 'friend' TTT in the first place.

But as a judge, he's been the most mature of the lot Grin. Simon has definitely lost the plot this year. He needs a break - even Louis Walsh was more in tune with his artists than Simon has been this series.

OP posts:
The80sweregreat · 24/11/2018 18:11

Si plays lip service and Robbie has been missing for a lot of it!
It's Louis and his trackie bots that's ruled the roost!

Raahh · 24/11/2018 18:21

80s true- I don't think anyone has taken Ayda seriously, either. I doubt a second series will be on the cards for them.

if the series carries on (but we think it's over every year!)

OP posts:
The80sweregreat · 24/11/2018 18:26

I saw an ad asking for next years auditions so I think it rumbles on next year.
( instead of hiring Wembley or the big arenas it might end up in a parish church hall though through lack of interest!)

I bet si ditches the William's too.

nancy75 · 24/11/2018 19:41

Evening all! If 3 acts go this week is it the final next week? Feels like we’ve only just started the live shows

Raahh · 24/11/2018 19:43

Nancy yes, it is! So early this year .

OP posts:
Raahh · 24/11/2018 19:45

nancy I notice you have just asked the question that I would have asked (if I went on the Strictly thread). The singers really have been dire this year. Every week.

I have a sneaking suspicion it is what happens to ageing X Factor rejects Grin

OP posts:
nancy75 · 24/11/2018 19:46

I feel like I’ve lost a few weeks! The final is normally my work night out, which is another 2 Saturdays! Simon obviously doesn’t want to face trying & failing for xmas number 1

nancy75 · 24/11/2018 19:47

Raahh I was expecting a kicking on that thread GrinThe cover of the Beatles/Paul Mcartney song was totally dire

Raahh · 24/11/2018 19:49

nancy it always used to coincide with either my Christmas do ,or dh's (when I worked, and when he worked somewhere that did such a thingGrin)- and would always be timed so the single would be released on the Monday, and in the following Christmas week chart.

It's all wrong now. Grin

OP posts:
Raahh · 24/11/2018 19:50

nancy Grin

I recognise a few names from the Doctors thread I'm on- but I still wouldn't post on it. Grin
Shirley is being as biased as ever, though.

I'm here! I am sort of watching just booking my weekend away first.

Brenda on first? Si must want to be rid of him

nancy75 · 24/11/2018 20:05

Wonder how much they get paid for the tour? It sounds like torture

Raahh · 24/11/2018 20:06

My night is ruined.

I bought chocolate raisins instead of peanuts.

Gutted.

He sounds more like Pinky and /or Perky every week.
