Staggeringly good. Anyone else watching?

Me. I think it's wonderful.

Atalune · 22/11/2018 20:37

What where when? I like the sound of it

Appaloosajunction · 22/11/2018 20:45

It's showing on Sky Atlantic just now.

I am loving this.

This is so good. Think I've lost my whole weekend to it Xmas Blush.

It's really very good. The most shocking thing for me is that no one looks out for these young girls. It's just accepted they can be abused by everyone around them. It was hard seeing the normality in the local town and on the island. The neighbourhood is like stepping back in time. In a bad way. I was shocked that Elena was only 15 on her birthday on the island. I didn't realise how young they were.

salsamummy · 09/12/2018 10:55

Yes I thought she was around 17 or 18 years old.

ittooshallpass · 09/12/2018 18:16

It was so sad... neither girl was shown any love.

ittooshallpass · 09/12/2018 18:17

The grooming that was going on was sickening.

I've only watched the first two episodes so far as wanted to save them for when I could completely focus on them without distractions. I've read the first two books in the series and absolutely loved them. So far the dramatisation seems to be staying true to the novels and I'm not disappointed. The girls cast are very similar to how I imagined them although Lila seems more delicate than I thought she'd be. The physical and emotional abuse does seem more shocking on screen than when read. Sadly I think it would be pretty typical for that generation of girls growing up in poverty in a highly misogynistic environment. I found the violence between adults pretty shocking too, particularly how bystanders just seemed to accept it and not intervene.

Just watched the finale. It's been amazing.

R00tat00tt00t · 23/12/2018 23:28

Me too! Must have been watching it at same time. Very sad. I've read the second book so know what they all have ahead of them which makes it even sadder. Wonderful adaptation though. Hope they continue the series .
