Here, in case extra alcohol or earplugs are required, are the song choices-

GIRLS
Bella Penfold - Strong by London Grammar
Scarlett Lee - Can't Take My Eyes Off You by Frankie Valli
Shan Ako - Summertime by Billie Holiday

GROUPS
Acacia & Aaliyah - Act Our Age (Original)

OVERS
Danny Tetley - My Way by Frank Sinatra

BOYS
Anthony Russell - Beyond The Sea by Bobby Darin
Brendan Murray - Say Something by A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera
Dalton Harris - Listen by Beyonce

Now, I used to love Big band, and it's not unusual to use 'modern' songs with a big band twist. But it has to work- I said last week, Rhyd doing Shirley Bassey's version of 'Get the Party started' - that worked.

I fail to see how 'Say Something' is going to work with a big band. It's a really hard song, and even Christina, with lungs the size of a Zeppelin, sometimes sounds lost in the mix. Brenda will just vanish with a Big Band.

I'm cross TTT is doing 'Beyond the Sea' one of my favourites- Will Young on Pop Idol did a great version.

I think A and A- still without a proper mentor - have been hung out to dry. The original song is a cop out- no-one has bothered to find a decent song that suits their style.

And bloody 'Listen' - Beyonce. Again. Really?

Grin

So, see y'all later!

Give over Dalton, pretend shock & crying make me not like him much

TwistinMyMelon · 17/11/2018 21:26

No confidence my arse!

PawneeParksDept · 17/11/2018 21:26

He is from Jamaica. The graciousness could be cultural.

The80sweregreat · 17/11/2018 21:27

At least Danny is doing big band!
He won't be as good as Dalton

PawneeParksDept · 17/11/2018 21:27

This bloody ad, (Joy, Jennifer Lawrence) song gets stuck in my head every time

The80sweregreat · 17/11/2018 21:28

Free from food, food!

Piggywaspushed · 17/11/2018 21:29

OK I am at Bella - am confused by Big Band theme for several acts...

MrsDoylesPumpkinSpiceLatte · 17/11/2018 21:30

I hate this Jonny Depp advert it makes no sense

NoisyBrain · 17/11/2018 21:30

Piggy it seems the theme was 'loosely' interpreted

Raahh · 17/11/2018 21:30

I've just had a Peacocks ad, with 'Nothings gonna stop us now' from Mannequin on it.

I heard it on the radio today, and remarked to dh, that really, that was one creepy film.

His voice is a tad high for this song.

trumpdump · 17/11/2018 21:33

nancy75 · 17/11/2018 21:33

Frank Sinatra is spinning in his grave

OutragedEtc · 17/11/2018 21:34

His voice actually sounds better singing this.

Not sure why he’s American in it though?

TwistinMyMelon · 17/11/2018 21:34

Reminds me of a night down 'club.
