Is coming to Netflix on November 19th.

It won't be on BBC2 which is a shame. I think this is the last series too.

Yaaaaaaaass. The best bit is the intro intoned in the manner of Arnold Schwarzenegger - ‘DESTINY IS ALL’. Shame it’s not on bbc 2 though - maybe it will come later in the year?

I can’t wait! Looks like there’s a few new characters going by the trailers. I haven’t read the books so no idea about the storyline but I’m guessing Uhtred might finally try and take Bebbinburg (sp) ?

Got Netflix specially at the weekend so that me and DH could watch this series as we both love it. First episode didn't disappoint. Just as dirty and gory as both the previous series. Looking forward to seeing the rest.

I loved the BBC versions, I'll watch any old vaguely medievalist crap (or even dark ages) but this was pleasingly well done. Hope it hasn't got too glam. As for gory-don't forget he got his girlfriend's heed chucked at him in the last series. She was nice but a rare slip from the makeup/costume department-just kept thinking 'I can see her foundation'-jarring, and that's from a viewer willing to accept the Cornish in dreadlocks and tie dye about 800 years before the invention of surf culture.

The Guardian (sorry Mumsnet) series blog was good, the writer also covers Game of Thrones-Sarah Hughes.

Cat it's fair to say it didn't disappoint on the gore front.......

Just finished and I loved this. There are great female characters - especially Hild and Æthelflæd. And Breda. I didn't like Skaide. Alfred is so well done and the scene between him and Outred was very well written. Don't want to do any spoilers but ... a satisfying end.

Have SO missed the Guardian recaps on this - Den of Geek's are simply NOT in the same class.

Some places are reporting that Netflix has renewed for Series 4.

I hope that's true. We haven't finished Series 3 yet (so no spoilers please) but it are thoroughly enjoying it.

Oh, yes - Uhtred the well fit. Still missing Erik the alright, though. Soft spot for Sihtric, too - those cheekbones!
