Has anyone watched ITVBe’s new reality show ‘Absolutely Ascot’?

As the title asks, have you? Omg I’m hooked already and considering that the ages of the people in this show are only 18-22 years old, then at age 37 I feel way to old to be watching, and liking this show!!

Firstly it’s obviously set in Ascot, where the famous annual horse racing is set but most of the characters are actually from Essex & Surrey and nobody is actually from Ascot, the show has caused lots of controversy with the Ascot locals & they’ve actually petitioned to get the name of the show changed, they want Essex in the title although this would clearly clash with towie, the same production and/or media company that makes this show, also makes towie and it’s actually very similar.

There are quite a few characters who are travellers and they don’t half mention this a fair few times! The young women dress like older women and they get botox and fillers done and boy does it show! This first season (I’m on episode 5 now) seems to centre around a couple named Henry and Courtney (think Mark Wright & Lauren Goodger in the old days of towie, the best days imo) who are like ‘the Golden couple’ of Ascot, who after 3 years together -forever in Courtney’s eyes- have now split and a week later Henry is dating Leah who by all accounts, was once friends with Courtney until Courtney danced with Leah’s now ex boyfriend, and accepted drinks from him, basically it’s the usual juvenile shit but I’m hooked!

I’m liking Elle & her mum Emma, Courtney is 18 and looks about 30, they all walk about in Chanel, Prada, Christian Louboutin, etc, etc, and drink champagne (think of Housewives in training) and they overdress everywhere they go, apart from Elle who dresses casual most of the time.

Anyway I hope someone watches this so that I can chat with them about it, it’s trashy tv at its finest and I love it!!

Amber is such a shit stirring, moany little biatch and her father ain’t much better.

I've watched a fair few episodes and it leaves me slightly disappointed in a "was that it?" kind of way.. it's one of the reality shows that makes me feel that I've wasted an hour of my life. so, to counter that, I always try to be doing something constructive whilst it's on
I agree with you regarding the fillers and so forth, it is actually really depressing seeing what those beautiful, young women are doing to themselves. But that's another discussion.
Disclaimer... I don't watch Towie. I'm more of a Made in Chelsea/ real housewives type . These shows used to horrify me with their superficiality but they're now one of my Guilty Pleasures. I am a terrible person

Absolutely Ascot got me glued to the screen within 10 mins of the first episode, even though it was a bit but it will probably get better in time although I watched the very first episode of towie and I loved that straight away, I’m just not so keen now, it’s went on too long and the stories are always the same but with different characters.

Oh and HoofWankingSpangleCunt -love that name btw- thanks for adding to this thread, hopefully more MNs will add to it as the show gets into season 2, although I may be waiting til Xmas for a ‘special’ edition, or next year for the next season, I don’t think I can wait that long tho

It's hardly actually filmed in Ascot though. Seems to be Windsor, Bray, Datchet more than actual Ascot.

It's trash tv for sure tho I'm not sure it's trash at its best. I've seen better. I'll stick with it for now. Purely for research purposes of course.

Most of the people in it aren’t even from Ascot, they’re mostly from Essex (you can tell with the accents anyway) and then Surrey too. Apparently no real Ascot locals wanted to be in it so the producers had to look further afield, and as my first post states, then Ascot locals aren’t happy at all about the show and they’re worried house prices may well go up due too show. Do you think that this particular group maybe go out in Berkshire (that’s where Ascot is yes?) to pubs etc, hence why they have called it Absolutely Ascot? I cannot think why else they would choose this area

I know I have said it before but I cannot believe that these young girls wear the clothes they wear as the clothes look too old for me and I’m double their age! Elle dresses her age and she can do casual but Courtney & Leah wear things that would look best on my grandmothers table ffs, I suspect the clothes are way too expensive but ffs, sack the stylist

I hated Ambers father and he was kind of a dick towards Angels mother, Simone. I can see where Amber gets her horrible personality from, Courtney is equally as horrid, and spoiled! Did you see all her designer clothing bags from their shop in London?! Ffs she’s high maintenance & Daddy can’t keep her forever.

I don’t know if Courtney & family or Henry & family are gypsies but I know gypsies in Edinburgh & they are always ‘in the money’, okay so they don’t live in mansions, they live a life of luxury in council houses but they all have expensive wheels with private number plates, designer clothes & Rolexes, diamonds, gold, etc, etc are always on them & I don’t just mean 1 item, I mean ALL their jewellery. They are also ‘hard’ families & 99% of the men have been in jail. I’m not saying all gypsy families are this way but the ones I know of are. They also make out that they’re related to every ‘hard’ family from Edinburgh, West Lothian and Glasgow, there’s also lots of people that pretend to be related to them purely due to their ‘status’ if you see what I mean?!

What does Henry do, he has a very extravagant lifestyle!
Poor Courtney, her birthday was ruined by a very heartless boy.

Henry’s father is a very successful property developer and in the very first episode then Henry was saying how lucky he was because he hadn’t had to work hard to buy any of cars, etc, etc, so I think his father has bought him them, although I also believe that Henry works with his father, Henry Senior, but obviously he’s not quite on par with the salary, as yet anyway.

I don’t think I’m too keen on Courtney, I preferred Leah in all honesty, it was just her voice that annoyed the hell out of me.

Seemed like Leah got her man in the end !

Didn’t Henry go back to Courtney? I’m pretty sure that Henry is the ‘Mark Wright’ of this show and Courtney is the ‘Lauren Goodger’, although Henry isn’t nearly as good looking as Mark and Courtney isn’t as hot headed as Lauren would’ve been, she behaved quite grown up about it all until Angels party when she made a comment about Leah’s ‘fake Louis Vuitton glasses’

Elle is the pregnant girl and I actually really like her, and her mother. Elle dresses normal too

I had quite liked Leah prior to that but she's not better than Henry and she's letting him use her.

So glad you started this thread, thought i was the only mumsnetter loving this show for my Sunday night fix of 'reality' tv. I really liked and felt quite sorry for Leah throughout the series, so was gutted to see that she was with Henry in Marbs, really thought she had more sense.
Thought Chloe looked lovely with dark hair even though she now looks more like Claudia! Cant help but feel Claudia and Samson's relationship is a bit strange. It's nice for siblings to be close, but their relationship seems a little co-dependant and I wonder how Claudia is feeling about Chloe being with her brother.
I hope they bring it back for another series.

Even though Leah & Henry were in Marbs at the same time, hence the Instagram post, then I don’t actually think they arranged to go at same time, when they were seeing one another then apparently they had arranged to go to Marbs together, although I don’t know when for, but I don’t think Leah is daft enough to get back with Henry, I think both she & Courtney should give him a wide berth forever and just enjoy being young, and single, Henry won’t ever treat them how they deserve to be treated.

I really felt for Courtney when Henry was late to her party and without a present too... I think he really ruined her night and she said that he was the only person that she was bothered about coming to her party (which was a bit cheeky towards everyone else that made an effort) and he was late and missed her ‘entrance’, and to then ask if they’re still back together if he flys off to Marbs after the party!. He’s a piece of work because we all know he’ll be there shagging as many girls as he can! He is a typical entitled rich boy player and he doesn’t half love himself! Why can’t he be more like his mate Lee, he only just dates girls, rather than getting into a relationship with them, because he doesn’t want to tie himself down nor does he want to hurt anybody, he’s also lovely looking & seems very genuine, if I was 15 years younger... in actual fact I can see him with an older women, he is mature enough and I bet there’s a few MILFs that would have no problem dating him...I may just look him up on Instagram...

I really liked Chloe’s hair brown, she looked far prettier than she did when she was a blonde. Samson is a lovely boy but his fashion ‘sense’ leaves a lot to be desired! Although when he gets a little more ‘famous’ then no doubt he’ll have a stylist to sack off his current ‘style’.

Claudia is quite a strange girl and considering she’s only ever had 1 date in her life, then she has plenty ‘advice’ to give out about boys and relationships. She also seems very green and turns trivial relationship problems into ‘emotional rollercoasters’. She seems to have such an over animated voice too and she looks incredibly old fashioned with regards to her ‘style’, maybe her mummy dresses her, after all shes 18 years old and she had to ask her mother for permission to go to Ibiza!!

Well I’m totally hooked on AA too and it’s my new guilty pleasure and as usual, I’m over invested. . I definitely tuning in next week, I hope there’s at least 15 episodes per series and an Xmas special

I would even go as far as to say that I prefer this show to the current towie, towie has gone way way past it’s sell by date and I think it’s time that it was taken off of the air, it’s only on once a week now and I was reading that the ratings have gone right down and it’s only just surviving!

So is Leah back with Henry? (although she doesn’t seem as tangled up with him like Courtney is, obvs due to only being in a ‘relationship’ with him for a hot minute) or did they really just bump into one another in Marbs? He’s a little creep and I’m not a huge fan of Courtney but she didn’t deserve to be treated that way, he didn’t even get her a birthday pressie, I think he can’t face being alone to be honest.

Watched for ten minutes. Oiks who can't speak English properly ie.,, innit, like & y`know wha I mean, etc., If this is reality - much prefer fantasy
