Never have I been so disappointed in the end of a series EVER

Obviously they had to work around Kevin Spaceys firing but the lack of Frank isn't even the problem.

I mean it's not even that it's a "poor" series If is woefully, shockingly bad.

Doug Stampers whole storyline is ridiculous and makes zero contextual sense.

Literally who cares about The Shepherds an allegedly uber powerful, influential family who have NEVER been mentioned before and just pop up as this immense shadowy force overnight

There is no justice even of the poetic kind for Rachel, Kathy, Zoe, Tom Yates, Tom Hammerschmidt, Leanne, Garrett, Janine, Jackie, Remy or Lucas and even Doug.

Even if the message was that the Underwoods will out as it was the last season it should have had a fully rounded end. Instead it ends like THAT on a ridiculous cliffhanger and just cuts out

What were the audio tapes Doug had?

Why did Claire fake being depressed?

Why, why, why was the final season so,crap?

Oh god yes it was awful. Series 5 I thought was okay but 6. Cripes.

The audio tapes were Franks verbal diary, consisting of the many varied adlibs he made to camera like the "useless pain" one.

This is bullshit for two reasons

1. Frank would never have made a record of shit which could incriminate them he was above that

2. a lot of those sayings were of the moment and wouldn't be relevant to record

Oh yes the fake depression thing? What was that all about??

The faking depressed thing literally never adds up, it's something to do with goading them in to heading for a 25th Amendment (forced to step down through incapacity) and then shocking them by hitting back hard.

It makes no sense whatsoever

I just finished it. What an absolute load of bollocks. I’m out tonight so I watched the last episode today without DH, he just came in and I told him not to get too excited!
Just nothing. No story, no follow ups, no characters, nothing.
Thank God they only made 8 episodes!

Would have been better to,go out on the end of the last series (with Claire saying ‘it’s my time’ (or whatever it was she said)

As far as I understand the pregnancy IS real, it just defies all scientific possibility, and flies in the face of established character story. Both Frank and Claire knew they were vipers and would make hideous parents, hence 3 abortions. Miracle pregnancy at 51 to a guy whose been dead longer than you've been pregnant? Bullshit

It was the pregnancy which finished it off for me, I had thought at first it was going to be OK, then it just went ridiculous with a bad ending.

I looked in Telly Addicts to see if there were a thread on this series and started one as I couldn’t see one there- but then felt I couldn’t post what would be considered spoilers by those who hadn’t seen all episodes.

So great to find this thread!

Thankfully finished the series. What utter croc. So sad after the barbed brilliance of the first two series . It reminded me of old Dynasty episodes.

Sorry to revive this thread but I’ve just finished HOC and I’m absolutely gutted! Where was their comeuppance?! I’m extraordinarily disappointed. None of it made any sense and the way they brought in new characters and just disposed of relevant old ones was utterly ridiculous. Apologies, I know you felt this pain many years ago op but I needed to get it out.

On another note, it’s strange how fitting the show has been to recent political activity.
