Really enjoying this, but anyone else finding the nipples very distracting?Grin

Personally, I think it's rapidly verring from a 'meh' first episode right into 'so bad it's good' territory.

minxthemanx · 04/11/2018 21:33

Yep I know what you mean. But I do wish she'd get out of that yellow dress ;it must stink by now.

IcedPurple · 04/11/2018 21:35

She's got a change of clothes!

Personally, I'm more bothered by the god-awful acting from pretty much the entire cast. Not sure if even the beautiful Alex Skarsgard can keep me watching.

That's how bad it is.

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 04/11/2018 21:38

I've lost interest and now don't know what's going on.
I got distracted googling to try to find a 1970s teapot like the one the boss dude had at the start.

minxthemanx · 04/11/2018 21:39

I'm thinking exactly the same; he's normally so good but I'm not enjoying this episode. Haven't got a clue what's going on.

It's almost like a parody at this stage. Dodgy accents, terrible script and 'acting' which makes my local amateur dramatics society look like Oscar winners.

SoupDragon · 04/11/2018 21:42

Oh, thank god there are others who have no idea what's going on! I thought I was being thick!

HermioneWeasley · 04/11/2018 21:44

I’ve only watched the first episode and already feel like I’ve seen enough of everyone’s nipples to last a lifetime.

IcedPurple · 04/11/2018 21:47

It's not so much that I don't know what's going on as that I don't care. Everything is just so fake and doesn't ring true at all, even by the standards of a Le Carre thriller.

minxthemanx · 04/11/2018 21:48

Well it's a relief to know it's not just me. Apart from the distracting nipples I am very confused as to who is acting a part in what; I don't normally struggle with clever telly, but am losing interest in this fast .

Me too! What was the bit about the bracelet?

WipsGlitter · 04/11/2018 21:51

Who is this other bloke with the gold watch?

IcedPurple · 04/11/2018 21:52

Someone on the Guardian thread last week said it was notable that there had been very little promotion of this from the Beeb. Sure sign they knew they had an (expensive) dud on their hands.

HoldMeCloserTonyDanza · 04/11/2018 22:24

I don’t understand:

  1. why have they chosen her specifically? If Jose can impersonate Michel/Salim why can’t some Mossad agent play “Charlie”? Why would they trust her with this?

  2. why is she going along with it? What’s in it for her?

  3. why is she not allowed to wear a bra

HoldMeCloserTonyDanza · 04/11/2018 22:26

Why are they trusting her with a car full of Semtex when two days ago they didn’t trust her to poo on her own

IcedPurple · 04/11/2018 23:35

Unless they get Alex Skarsgard to do a nude scene next week (!) I don't think I'll be back. That was turgid and unengaging.

What does anybody else think?

StripySocksAndDocs · 04/11/2018 23:45

A very good question HoldMeCloserTonyDanza.

Twitter is amusing. It's a split between people saying it's boring, slow and pretentious and people claiming the people saying it's boring, slow and pretentious are just thick pleps with no concentration span and patting themselves on the back for being so terrible clever for not thinking it is boring and slow.

Got it admit I find the multiple lose thread not yet gather type of story irritating. I can cope with a few unanswered plot lines, but not a bundle. Too many and i start to find it annoying. It's the same with wires, I'm fine with a few being higgeldy piggeldy, but not a bundle I just want them gathered together without delay!

Found a few things just too inexplicable like such as their lack of questioning as to why they, actors performing in a pub, were suddenly sped over to Greece. How she went from giving Action Man the shifty side eye to taking the dress and going off with him so quick (though possibly irked into it by errant boyfriend). And as above, the shit to semtex puzzle!

SoupDragon · 05/11/2018 07:20

3) why is she not allowed to wear a bra

There was a bra provided in the bathroom when she put on the blue dress. Some flimsy beige thing made out of netting. She looked at it with disgust.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 05/11/2018 12:45

I'm loving the clothes she's given but not the plot so much. And really wanting a proper love scene between Charlie and Jose (it's really not too much to ask). I'm also wondering whether Jose is a double agent?

HermioneWeasley · 06/11/2018 20:02

TonyDanza, those are indeed the questions

I’ll give it one more episode

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 12/11/2018 18:38

I'm finding it very watchable particularly now that it looks as if Gadi and Charlie are overstepping the boundaries... fact and fiction are merging. It's quite hard to follow though.

I think that Gadi's clothes fit the era better than Charlie's - there's something about so many single coloured dresses that doesn't sit quite right with the late 1970s. The more masculine of the female 'helpers' looks like Patti Smith circa that era - spot on with the hairstyle!

Inkanta · 12/11/2018 19:41

'And really wanting a proper love scene between Charlie and Jose (it's really not too much to ask).'

Yeah, and that's all I ask for. And that she be given another brightly coloured dress and jewels. Smile

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 13/11/2018 13:13

Inkanta I'm with you regarding the proper love scene. Is it three episodes still to go?
