Has anyone watched this?

I really enjoyed it. Can’t wait for season 2

If you enjoyed Sabrina the teenaged witch, watch this as a new program. Don’t compare it as it’s nothing alike

That's the thing, it's nothing alike and that's what I just can't get past. It's OK but I remember Sabrina to be a teenager struggling with puberty, social circles and learning how to be witch on top of it all, she was kind of relatable. I couldn't get past the first part of episode one.

millkcowmama · 04/11/2018 20:13

I loved Sabrina and I’m in two minds whether I want to watch this or not

WhoisyourDaddyandwhatdoeshedo · 04/11/2018 20:15

I loved the old Sabrinas. The pancake addiction episode was my fave...I ended up buying the entire box set range last year xx

Soubriquet · 04/11/2018 20:15

It is different

Wildly so don’t get me wrong.

But it’s really enjoyable. The first episode had me a bit wtf, but I started to get into it during the second episode

I loved it! Can't wait for season Two. Sabrina was such a badass.

I think I actually prefer it to the original ones (although still upset Salem doesn't actually talk)

WhoisyourDaddyandwhatdoeshedo · 04/11/2018 20:18

I'm Deffo going to watch it. I just have to have an open mind that they are complete opposites! Xx

Soubriquet · 04/11/2018 20:19

Yeah I was gutted Salem didn’t talk either. Turns out the main reason Salem isn’t in it much, it’s because the girl who plays Sabrina, is actually allergic to cats

I have seen episode one and really like it! It has a buffy vibe to it, I think.

iklboo · 04/11/2018 20:24

It's not meant to be a remake of Sabrina the Teenage Witch though. It's based on the comics graphic novels. We really enjoyed it.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 04/11/2018 20:28

Michelle Gomez. 😍 And the high priest. Costumes are fabulous. I know, I'm sad.

SawnUpLooRoll · 04/11/2018 20:30

I love it because it's so close to the original graphic novels, and not sweetened up like StTW was.

I still love StTW as a separate series and would be fine with my DC watching it, but TTAoS is great for titally different reasons.

SawnUpLooRoll · 04/11/2018 20:31

*totally. TOTALLY.

Christ on a bike.

Soubriquet · 04/11/2018 20:31

I’m not into graphic novels. I prefer reading actual books

But I love how dark this is.

I've only watched episode one so far.. but can anyone tell me does the filming get better? I'm getting frustrated with the blur filter they seem to be using.

I'm trying not to compare it to the other version at all.. it is hard not to a bit though.

motortroll · 04/11/2018 20:42

Me and fb are LOVING IT!!

Soubriquet · 04/11/2018 20:42

No. The picture tends to stay like that all the way through

Though it isn’t blurry. Is your Netflix working correctly?

motortroll · 04/11/2018 20:42

*dh

KitKatCHA · 04/11/2018 20:43

Just watched the last episode, loved the whole series. Even DH was hooked, after he got over the fact he was watching Sabrina Grin

itsbetterthanabox · 04/11/2018 20:47

I like the feel of it but find the writing clunky and the acting of actor who plays Sabrina isn't great.
I don't get why they've tried to make it so 'woke' either- it doesn't make sense in the time it's set.

BentNeckLady · 04/11/2018 20:48

I'm loving it. The acting's great, the scripts are great, the sets and costumes are fabulous! What's not to love.

I watched STTW but don't really remember that much about it tbh. It was a long time ago 😬

BentNeckLady · 04/11/2018 20:49

I haven't noticed it being blurry at all.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 04/11/2018 20:51

I love it because it's so close to the original graphic novels, and not sweetened up like StTW was. hate to be a pedantic old fart, (but I am) but Sabrina was a spin off from Archie (like Millie the Model) in the 60s before Archie went all dark and moody. STTW was closer to the original. But I love the new series.

millkcowmama · 04/11/2018 20:52

I don’t think I can bring myself to watch it. I loved sttw so much watched the episodes had the pc games collected Sabrina secrets magazine I think I will find it too hard not to compare

WomanOfTime · 04/11/2018 20:53

I agree completely, itsbetterthanabox - at least based on episode 1. I gave up there. I could put up with the "wokeness" if it weren't so clunkily written. As it is, it feels contrived and tokenistic and doesn't seem to cohere well as a show.

I enjoyed the original but I was very young then! Perhaps now I'm too old to be part of the target audience.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 04/11/2018 20:54

And it's set now isn't it? They have mobiles, although it does have a retro feel.
