Need ideas for family TV watching

Help I am really stuck for ideas of what to watch on TV with my 12 year old DS. I also have two older teens but I think it will be expecting too much to find something we can all enjoy.

We don’t like things like stricktly or talent shows. My ds is quite sensitive so series like Stranger Things would be too scary. We have enjoyed some documentaries and we loved the recent Lemony Snicket series. We have netflix and I think every channel under the sun but nothing to watch. Any ideas?

Ooooooo great thread. We also have the same issue. We’ve just started watching Doctor Who which my lot are enjoying. We also loved Lemony Snicket but something like Stranger Things would be far too scary for them. They also weirdly liked The Durells which surprised me. I’m going to watch it he first episode of the new Sabrina the Teenage Witch series and see what that’s like as the trailer looks a bit dark

We tried Dr Who and really wanted to like it, but I don’t think any of us really “got it”. Will look at The Durrells thanks. Its a difficult age but I also feel we must be a difficult family as everyone seems to enjoy Dr WhoSad

My kids although slightly younger love watching impractical jokers. It’s abput the only thing we can all agree on!

We all watch The Apprentice. Me, DP, DC1(16) and DC2(13). Love it. It’s about the only thing we all watch together.

Just me and the DC also watch Modern Family. We quite like some of the rubbish American dramas like Chicago Fire.

The new Sabrina has an age rating of 15 I noticed so might be a bit dark/adult.

Oh and we don’t like Dr Who. Never have. You’re not alone Wink

Looking forward to hearing everyone's suggestions. I watch The Apprentice with my 11 year old DS. Have also watched early episodes of Outnumbered with him. He has enjoyed Agatha Christie too.

Also going to follow this with interest. My dd is 10 and I'm always on the look out for things we can watch together.

Ds(9) and I enjoy watching the big bang theory together. I have to be careful not to let him watch the episodes that have lots of sex-related stuff in, but the general geeky stuff he loves.
We watch the apprentice with dd(14). I also watch Riverdale with her, and dh watches Eastenders with her.

My 13yo loved The Good Place and I've now got her into Brooklyn 99.

Apprentice and Bake Off from me too. Bake Off final next week!

You could pick and choose some Black Mirror episodes, not the scary ones obviously. Nosedive, USS Callister, plus I liked Ark Angel. They all touch on social media, surveillance and the downsides of it's usage. It could result in an interesting conversation.

Father Ted is on More4 as well.

Bugger. Back to the drawing board!

No idea Grin my DS is 17 now and I don’ t think I’ve found a programme that we could really enjoy together. I often read on Mumsnet about people having family film nights and I can hardly think of any films that we have all really liked watching.

Magicpaintbrush · 28/10/2018 13:25

Merlin is on Netflix at the moment - perfect family viewing. I'm watching it at the moment and re-living it all, it's fab.

Notmyideamovingon · 28/10/2018 13:27

Greenhouse on Netflix. Watched the first sabrina last night and I think it's too dark.I enjoyed it though :)

iklboogiemanunderthebed · 28/10/2018 13:28

Sabrina is very dark with some scary scenes.

BellMcEnd · 28/10/2018 14:44

Is Sabrina good? (Although won’t be watching it with the DCs!) I used to love the teenage witch series but this sounds somewhat different......? Grin
