Anyone watching? Last year's was dreadful with Zoe Ball and Nadiya - and Rosemary Schrager and Gino Locatelli? Or was that something else just as bad? Anyway, different presenters, this year, far friendlier, and families who really aren't that great at cooking. Which is quite refreshing after the pretensions and shouting and bawling about perfection on Masterchef. I'm enjoying it.

Better format this year and better presenters. However, the cooking is embarrassingly bad this time around. Meals like curry, Chillies etc are always going to stand more chance of winning as there is no precision required. You can over cook a curry by 10 minutes but not a duck breast!
Some of the contestants, mention no names, appeared to be looking for a T.V career....it got a bit annoying last week, all that playing up to camera.

Oooh what's this? Not heard of it

longwayoff · 25/10/2018 18:20

Agree completely but I find the standard of cooking quite endearing. Its really poor! Quite a shock. Especially from the cooking 'teacher'Hmm. Recommended gremlins 7pm bbc2

Kicking off in a minute, suspect BBC trying it out in an early slot and seeing if it turns into another GBBO

longwayoff · 25/10/2018 19:06

Ooh. Not much hope of that I think. Here we go . ..

I'm so unobservant, didnt notice it I'm afraid. Only one set of really not good cooks tonight. This must be deliberate? I wonder how people audition for these cooking shows.

Oh, I totally missed that this was back. I don't blame Nadiya for quitting; she looked bored in the last series. I like Zoe B but I didn't think they needed two presenters and two judges.

Watching the dynamic of some of the families was quite interesting, but apart from that it was a bit of a mess. With this and the one with Claudia Winkelman and Mary Berry, I just think the Beeb are desperately trying to find something to replace GBBO.

longwayoff · 26/10/2018 17:59

Yes, first series was over-staffed to say the least. Its definitely messy but I think that's intentional along with seeing the family interactions playing out with people getting flustered, being a little terse. Just makes it, for me, feel less contrived than other cooking shows perhaps. I'd forgotten about Claudia/Mary. Think I saw one? Totally forgotten if I did.

I am enjoying this,:thought I think the cooks have been selected for their personalities rather than their ability to cook. I think the format is very good and I really like the presenters.
