So we finished this last night, agh I was so tense when it came to the lead up to the shooting! All the way I was thinking "please don't let it be the little brother".

It was heartbreaking when the police told the parents.

Did anyone think the actress who played Holly was mega wooden? That scene between her and Charlie/gabe in her flat she seemed particularly bad.

Love love love raza. Quite sad that he ended up staying in touch with the one person who ruined his life, like an abusive relationship or something.

Anyway the whole thing was totally unrealistic but I still loved it!

Yes. Doesn’t mean she can act. Was really gratingly bad

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 01/11/2018 13:03

Yes gabe’s daughter seemed a bit stage school.
Loved everything about the show.
Sunetra Sarker was perfectly cast as the (step)mum.
I thought Raza was a brilliant many dimensional character.
Loved the fully fledged minority characters.
Faisal / Imran was pure comedy.
Really liked Yusufs’s girlfriend and Dadir was excellent too.
The Charlie legend made no sense.

Can someone please explain why Em had that scar on her back ... it kind of got touched on in about episode 2/3 but not really explained?!

selfidentifyinggiraffe · 01/11/2018 20:56

So... is Raza single? Asking for a friend

I didn't quite understand Nas being the shooter - did he just flip after seeing the video on Raza that Cash showed him?

Where did he get the gun? It looked like he pulled it out of the bushes or was it Cash's gun?

Who put the gun in Cash's car wreck?

PouchofDouglas · 01/11/2018 22:03

M8 is you missed all that you really need to rewatch

OneStepMoreFun · 01/11/2018 22:07

Nabhaan Rizwan who played Raza is possibly the most handsome man in the world.

Oh yeah that was weird!

Wingingit15 The scar was the result of her being the victim of a drunk or drugged driver (I think). It was how she met Gab as apparently he witnessed the accident and beat the shit out of the culprit - may even have killed him, but my memory of that scene is hazy.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 02/11/2018 06:43

Em must have had some surgery on alipung too, which is why she tried to hide smoking from Gabe

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 02/11/2018 06:43

*a lung
( no idea where alipung came from)

fatbrows · 05/11/2018 02:41

Oof just finished it...
Cannot for the life of me figure why Nasir did it I really can't

NewBabyNoName · 05/11/2018 05:46

I agree, not sure Nasir was a good choice for the shooter. I get why seeing Holly might have set him off a little but it felt a bit lazy.

IdblowJonSnow · 05/11/2018 23:58

In love with Raza's character. Sad its finished. My dh guessed the ending from episode 3, something to do with a sleeve and the type of gun! Going to see if there's a book of it now. Couldn't follow episode 5 for the life of me but otherwise a fantastic series.

raisinsraisins · 06/11/2018 21:33

I loved this series, although I agree that the ending was strange with Nasir being the shooter. Thought Bel Powley was also good, and I loved Rachel Tucker in this. Although did anyone else notice that when she put her face under the water in the bath her make up stayed perfect, and then when she was crying after she was in the car her mascara was streaming down her face!

Nabhaan Rizwan is definitely a talent and I hope he gets some good roles lined up after this. Hope they don’t make a second series as I don’t feel that there’s anywhere for the story to go now.

FermatsTheorem · 06/11/2018 21:45

I thought both Raza and Dadir were brilliant. (Quite unusually for me, I twigged really early on that it was the little brother - the flash forward sequence to A&E where they're cutting Raza's jacket off the shooter - I immediately thought "we're being set up to think it's Raza, but that would be too obvious, so who else has access to hi jacket?")

I thought Consadine was good, didn't really buy into the Holly character and thought the friend/frenemy-ship she set up with Gabe's wife was unbelievable and too clearly there for the sake of the plot ("honey, your plot device's showing...")

LittleBookofCalm · 13/11/2018 23:50

Really enjoyed this. athough paddy C and Holly bit clunky.
thought Paddy had organised for Holly to be shot in the end.
like above really liked Raza, Dadir and Faisal.

The Paddy doing Danny Dyer, not my favourite, bit, odd, but interesting slant to the under cover policing.
The whole story about Holly and wife Meeting, again, odd.
Raza made up for it

LittleBookofCalm · 13/11/2018 23:51

The art studio was a good ending, the splashed paint on the mannequin made a feature.

Dulra · 21/11/2018 08:16

Just finished watching this last night. Had no idea who the shooter was until right at the last minute. Found the end so depressing, gabe had rightly fecked up razza and his families life and for what? Not to mention yusuf. How he is allowed recruit more informers I'll never know!

As others have mentioned razza was outstanding in this. Gabe and holly weren't great. I found holly pretty bad tbh very wooden and always looked like she wasn't quite sure why she was there or what she should be doing.

Dickorydockwhatthe · 22/11/2018 22:57

I’ve just finished this and cried brilliantly written and I absolutely loved Razza. I think they did show glimpses of Nassir being fed by Kash, plus he though his brother was a terrorist at that point so emotions were high and seeing holly probably made him loses it. I like Holly and I think her character was meant to be cold and wooden they even made reference to that in the beginning. It was interesting how he did go back to Gabe almost like you said and abusive relationship, but we also saw how he was with his boss and went to offload. I also loved Dadir who also acted superbly.

supergrains · 07/12/2018 09:14

I thought this was so brilliant....but why did Nasir go to the cafe in the end? Did he just stumble across it?

BringMeTea · 12/12/2018 18:52

I just finished this. I loved it. I thought Paddy was convincing. I mean how is an undercover counterrorist copper supposed to be? I liked Holly and assumed she would be revealed to have high functioning autism, but no.
All the plaudits though to Nabhaan Rizwan. He was amazing. Showed everyone else up. Hope to see more of him.

BringMeTea · 12/12/2018 18:53

Oh I assumed he just chanced upon the cafe?
