I have just watched this on the BBC iPlayer, what an amazing story but even more stunning is his dance here mesmerising, so beautiful and almost unreal. I've not seen anything like it ever. The film is not on BBC for much longer, but if you are interested in ballet it is worth a watch.

I caught this when it when viral on first release. I can't remember how many million views it's had now, but I have the feeling that at least a quarter of a million of those are mine Grin.

raspberrycordial · 21/10/2018 10:20

Grin I'm just about to watch it again. The things he can do shouldn't be possible!

Thank you so much for sharing this! I've seen it countless times but it's always worth another watch - gives me goosebumps! I didn't know there was a programme about him on iplayer - thanks for the heads up.

thecatneuterer · 21/10/2018 10:27

That slidy forwards on the tops of the toes thing!!! [pardon the technical dance terminology] OMG!

Orangepear · 21/10/2018 10:33

Thanks for the heads up!

raspberrycordial · 21/10/2018 10:52

@thecatneuterer I know!!! I don't know what it's called either!

He reminds me of elisabeth moss. His body is so perfect, nothing moves unless he wants it to.

His story is quite sad. For all the training he did, the amount of natural talent he has is unsurpassable, watching him in class when younger he is so far ahead of everyone else.

And also the setting, music, costume, camera work, the sun coming through the window towards the end are all exquisite, I can't quite get over it!

OP posts:
thecatneuterer · 21/10/2018 10:56

I think the sun on 'only then I am free' must be some sort of CGI. It's too perfect for it to have happened naturally.

raspberrycordial · 21/10/2018 11:01

I did wonder that, it doesn't look sunny there. I suspect you're right.

Just showing dd, the jete he does at 2.00 is breathtaking-pure perfection and the camera shot, just wow

movingschoolagain · 21/10/2018 13:10

thecatneuterer · 21/10/2018 14:26

I watched the film too, on the strength of knowing him from that video and, despite having no interest in ballet whatsoever, found it interesting.

thecatneuterer · 21/10/2018 14:32

Oops. Meant on 'only then I am clean', not free.

DramaAlpaca · 21/10/2018 14:34

That video is stunning. I too have seen it many times & never tire of it.

NigellasGuest · 21/10/2018 20:49

Just watched the film - thank you so much for telling us about it. I found it very emotional.

Cakemonger · 21/10/2018 21:17

Thank you, love ballet, definitely going to watch

bilbodog · 21/10/2018 22:23

Also on iplayer you should be able to find the hofesh clowns performance - it was shown in 22/9 just before dancer. Amazing choreography!
