Apologies if there's already a thread about the series -
Is there anybody else utterly captivated by this whilst simultaneously not being entirely sure what's going on?

I think Bibi will be implicated in the Zaire massacre of Hutus.
She and David were in that photo he kept looking at in the last moments.
Both in uniform. Perhaps her voice is heard in the elusive tape?

diddl · 25/10/2018 09:03

Yes I can't help thinking that David is behind it to protect Bibi.

Everincreasingfrequency · 25/10/2018 09:22

Diddl the church was a memorial to the massacre - there was a sign outside it. Kate had mentioned earlier that she was expected to visit a memorial (although said she wouldn't! but there you go, she changed her mind). So I don't think it was the church that she was said to have been rescued from.

I don't really understand Alice's position in 1997 - if her recordings were made while the massacre was being planned/underway, why didn't she intervene to try to stop it (being in a high up military position herself)?

Abra1de · 25/10/2018 09:49

Perhaps because her stepsister Bibi was involved/complicit? And now Bibi is going for another term/changing the constitution she feels she has to stop her?

SoupDragon · 25/10/2018 09:53

Wasn't the church the one where the priest from earlier was? There was a massacre therin as the soldiers killed everyone inside.

diddl · 25/10/2018 11:57

Yes, I thought that the priest had given the key & the soldiers had locked everyone in & massacred them.

I thought that when the story was being told it seemed that Kate had been there & survived somehow.

Obviously not!

SoupDragon · 25/10/2018 12:12

I don't think she was at that particular massacre, no. I think her story was elsewhere. The church was the scene of the massacre when that French priest gave them up and now is a memorial.

Abra1de · 29/10/2018 18:27

Last episode. I will miss it.

InfiniteVariety · 31/10/2018 17:04

Death by cobra seemed fitting for David's character who was a bit of a snake....

OP posts:
Abra1de · 31/10/2018 17:07

Yes!

SoupDragon · 31/10/2018 18:24

I'm still not entirely sure I know what happened!

InfiniteVariety · 31/10/2018 19:12

You're not alone SoupDragon!

OP posts:
Abra1de · 31/10/2018 19:19

Me too!

But I did enjoy it.

InfiniteVariety · 01/11/2018 18:12

It was a remarkable series not least because there were 3 or 4 really good strong roles for black women (Kate, Alice, Bibi, Eunice) - how often does that happen?

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 01/11/2018 19:24

I did think that whilst watching.

Abra1de · 01/11/2018 21:42

Apart from in The Wire, not often.

And the beauty of BER was that you just stop looking at colour and just get caught up in plot and characters.

Wonderdi · 05/11/2018 00:46

I'm watching the series on catch up. It's very intriguing and well acted but I'm really sick(!) of all the vomiting. Doesn't always seem appropriate.

Aridane · 30/12/2018 17:00

I couldn’t work out what happened in the end. Can anyone clarify?

poldarkssecretlover · 03/02/2019 23:17

I have just finished this, was good but I didn't feel like I fully understood it.
