Anyone watching? I’m on episode 2 and am watching through my fingers 😱

I’m intrigued by the insistence of the adults that children should view bodies in open caskets?! Is it a tv thing or an American thing?!! Very macabre.

It's not an American thing.

How was episode 1?

footballmum · 12/10/2018 20:11

Bloody creepy!! Jumps about a bit between the past and present day but it’s got the makings of a good horror.

Netflix is doing very good work these days. Horror isn't my standard genre but I'll take a look at episode 1. Longmire is a really good modern western/police procedural if that floats your boat.

footballmum · 12/10/2018 20:28

I’m always on the look out for something new so I’ll take a look Smile

That is so weird, I'm 28 minutes in and just checked out mn while dh got more wine. Spooky.👻

sluj · 12/10/2018 21:46

Watched the first two, pretty good so far but getting confused at all the sisters and mothers - they all look the same 😮

SummerRayne17 · 13/10/2018 06:22

@sluj Me too! It's definitely taking some grey matter work to get my head around who's who! Seems good so far though, a bit different to what I usually watch. I did jump a few time whilst watching it in the dark! Lol.

heatherflower · 14/10/2018 08:33

This show is amazing! I'm on the last two and it's so scary!
Best horror show I've seen in a long time. Well done Netflix ConfusedGrin

KlutzyDraconequus · 14/10/2018 23:16

I just Finished it.

Was hoping for a shit your pants, hide behind your pillows, scream out loud and no sleep till 2019 type ending..
Was more like a warm bath and cup of cocoa..
Disappointing.

SausageOnAFork · 19/10/2018 07:33

Glad I’m not the only one disappointed with the ending.
I almost fell asleep! Very drab as compared to the rest of it which was amazing.

IggyAce · 19/10/2018 07:38

I really enjoyed this, however it wasn’t as scary as the trailers made out.

Nenic · 19/10/2018 07:40

I loved it. Nearly had a heart attack at the car scene in episode 8

KlutzyDraconequus · 19/10/2018 20:08

I'm going to spoil things now so if anyone hasn't seen the ending...

SKIP THIS POST AS BEST YOU CAN...

anyone else thats seen the ending..
Did you find it odd that for 9hours and 45 minutes the show was like,
"The house is really evil and it will kill you if you stay here.. get don't come here cause you'll go mad.. mad I tell you..."
Then the last 15 minutes it was all like,
"Actually no the house is fine and your loved ones will be at peace and in love for ever, feel free to pop over and say hi whenever you fancy.. I'll even make scones.."
Just bizarre and weird shift.. it's like they got to the end and just couldn't figure out the best way to wrap it up so went for the Disney happy ever after bollocks.
It'd have been better if they'd gone back and all often them ended up dead and in endless torture.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 19/10/2018 20:10

Loved it, binged watched it last weekend

Rainbowturkey · 19/10/2018 20:11

I finished it today and thought it was great, best thing I’ve watched for a while.

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 19/10/2018 20:18

I've watched the first two episodes, there's some really creepy parts but if I'm honest I'm finding it a bit confusing and boring. I'll probably watch another episode tonight and try to get into it.

drinkswineoutofamug · 21/10/2018 21:35

Just finished binge watching it. Addictive, but I was disappointed in the final episode. A few good parts but don't want to spoil it for anyone

CurlyhairedAssassin · 24/10/2018 18:56

Is it suitable for a nearly 15 year old just getting into scarier stuff? He loved Stranger things, and has seen the trailers for this and wants to watch.

He’s quite geeky with a rational scientific mind. Unlike his 12 year old brother who runs away at the sound of scary music!

drinkswineoutofamug · 24/10/2018 22:37

Fine for a 15yo . It makes you jump at times but didn't give me nightmares

GetOrfMyBin · 01/11/2018 19:05

We binge watched it over three days...some late nights!

We both loved it but felt that the ending fell a little flat, which was unfortunate. Agree with other comments about it being so scary and then the last episode especially getting a little lost.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 02/11/2018 22:21

Just seen a bit of it on Gogglebox tonight, looked well creeepy! Think we’ll give it a go

queenofgoogle · 03/11/2018 12:32

yes me too, the bit on gogglebox made me want to watch it.

TheWitchsCatFromOuterSpace · 03/11/2018 23:01

I've just finished it. Some episodes were much better than others - unfortunately the last one was a bit of a letdown. I agree with klutzy's post about it.

mrwalkensir · 24/11/2018 19:07

thought the last episode was fabulous... don't think that they made out that the house was great, just that if you were trapped there, then at least you could hope to be there with people that you loved?

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 03/01/2019 23:07

Just finished it after getting sucked into it. Loved it. Did get a little teary at parts. Where she's dancing in the house and in the other episode where she's stood beside the coffin and hear the voice over from the younger version and no one can see her..

The ending. Bit cute I guess. Read the original idea was to end with the window showing but decided against it.

Didn't think was as scary as thought. Few horrible moments though.
