Lady Chatterley's Lover adaptations

For entirely eye candy reasons, I watched the Richard Madden version of Lady Chatterley's Lover the other week. I quite enjoyed it as a drama - the relationship between Mellors and Constance was really quite romantic and affectionate, and even Sir Clifford wasn't a total git.

As it happens, Drama showed the previous BBC version from many moons ago, with Sean Bean, so I streamed it on the UK TV app as a comparison. It's longer, over two episodes, and it's very artsy daft in places, but I was quite disappointed as the central relationship was bloody horrible. Sir Clifford was cold and difficult and unsympathetic, but Mellors was just a bit creepy and there was practically no tenderness shown at all.

With the newer version, I was willing them to ride off into the sunset together, but in the Bean version I just wanted her to pack a bag and run away from the horrible lot of them.
