I've been struggling to get through Ozark S2
and I couldn't work out what the problem is and thinking about it more it's Marty Byrd/Jason Bateman

Marty is the least interesting character and Jason's performance the least talented

When you're considered a veteran actor and you're being acted off the screen by almost everyone particularly Julia Garner who is 24 and plays his protege and the 14 yo who plays his son.

And that's before you even get to heavyweights like Laura Linney and Janet McTeer

And yet he was the only one Emmy nominated Hmm

No justice.

Anyone else agree?

hmmm i actually like his weird understatedness and am actually trying to copy it in real life. I agree, probably not as hard to act that though, I just like it.

He was the only one nominated? ! I think the actresses playing Ruth and the mum are amazing! How sad.

I know what you mean but also think it's his character and the story, he's cut off emotionally from what he's actually doing so seems robotic for a long time later in series 2 he does break ( without giving too much away) and he holds the emotions / truth of what is happening and his wife/ Laura Linney appears more psychopathic in her ability to deny the horror of what is going on in their lives and how it affects them all (.. esp the kids)

I'm on Series 3, agree about Jason Bateman, I also can't stop staring at his bum nose. Laura Linney is spectacular

Julia Garner has definitely won an award for her role, can't remember which one.

We've just finished Series 3......I think I've had enough Ozark now. Although the writing, acting etc is all great I've got a bit tired of the violence, the idea of everyone being expendable and how the kids' lives are affected.

Think I need a naice period drama Grin

I'm about 5 episodes into series 3. Basically I'm just waiting for Ruth to be on screen all the time. She's fantastic.

I agree fish she's an amazing actress.
