have you ever made a complaint about a television programme?

last night channel4 received over 900 complaints about big brother. Over the offensiveness of a contestant using a racist word? - oh no, it was over the fact that said contestant was evicted from the house and they felt she shouldn't have been.

When the apprentice candidates did their selling on the shopping channel, people actually wrote in to complain about how rubbish they were.

Now I can understand that one might complain if something was really offeensive, ie if someone was taking the mick out of the disabled for instance, but for the most part, I think complainin is just sad - what's wrong with the off button?

Never understood it, myself. Just turn the damn thing off if you don't like it. Complainers always seem to me to have the attitude 'I don't like this so no-one else should be allowed to watch it'.

I once phoned the BBC to complain when they replaced BBC2 tots programmes with Wimbledon for two weeks which greatly upset DS1 (PFB moment I feel)

Seriously though - I agree - turn it off if it offends you ffs.

I once complained about a factual error on the news. I had a friend who worked in television and he used to complain about bias in news/docs all the time - he said that everyone should.

I've complained twice - first time on last year's BB when the Aisleyne/Nikki thing was going on. That episode of BBBM when Grace, Nikki et al were all howling for Aisleyne's blood and threatening all kinds (without Russell Brand saying a word) and the possibility of the revolting Nikki returning when I'd paid good money to evict the moaning little baggage... it was the principle of the thing and also I was disgusted that BB/Endemol/C4 were doing nothing to prevent or condemn the bullying mob behaviour going on.

Second time was for Shilpa but that was before the racism row - it was after the evening Jade ranted at her for several hours while Cleo Rocos looked on as she was reduced to tears - again, the bullying where nothing was done about it - I like BB, and I didn't feel that enough was done to put out the message that bullying is unacceptable - even when it did all kick off in the media, the racism was concentrated on (a figleaf, imho) whilst the nasty, bullying unpleasant behaviour of those 4 women (I include Cleo, she was just as bad) was brushed under the carpet.

Possibly I'm a little hypersensitive because I was badly bullied at school, but given that BB is a progamme a lot of kids/teens watch, I think they should do a bit more to step in and give the right messages when this kind of behaviour takes place.

Which was what I was complaining about. I'm well aware of where my off switch is, and I used it thereafter.
