I don't see why Charity is being questioned about whether the sex was consensual, surely it's statutory rape?

She had a baby at 14, policeman is the father. Open and shut case!

JaneJeffer · 11/09/2018 20:00

How could those women on the jury sit there smirking? Sad

actualpuffins · 11/09/2018 20:18

Yeah, policeman grooming a vulnerable minor for sex. Hi-larious.

MinorRSole · 11/09/2018 21:35

She had a baby at 14, policeman is the father. Open and shut case!*

Exactly! I don't get this at all. A consensual sexual relationship between a child and a policeman?!

JaneJeffer · 11/09/2018 21:38

At the time it happened it had to be reported within a year by law.

PrincessScarlett · 11/09/2018 23:07

I wonder how comfortable the wife is lying for Bails and whether she will backtrack? To excuse your husband having sex with a child by saying he was unhappy in his first marriage is pretty horrific.

BolleauxtoBankers · 12/09/2018 18:31

JaneJeffer - whether or not it was reported within a year by law, it was still illegal, surely? The fact was that Bails had sex with an underage girl, he doesn't dispute it and shouldn't get away with it because she had had sex with her boyfriend when she was 13 and then had been on the streets - what he did was still illegal and inexcusable, whether or not she reported it to police within a year, particularly as he admits it. It is his actions, as a (married) 25 year old man, which should be on trial, not hers, as an underage, unprotected, girl.

GeoffCapesInSlingbacks · 12/09/2018 19:10

Not watched in ages but jeez Rhona does NOT suit blonde hair at allShock

JaneJeffer · 12/09/2018 19:12

Bolleaux that's the law. I don't agree with it!

actualpuffins · 12/09/2018 19:29

Yey! 30 years! I didn't think that type of sentence was possible.

PrincessScarlett · 12/09/2018 20:57

Any sentence is possible in soapland.

I did shed a tear for Charity. I love how Emmerdale have shown the back stories for characters like Charity, Cain, Aaron, Faith etc. It makes the characters appear more real.

And yes, Rhona's hair!!!

Smidge001 · 12/09/2018 22:04

I'm glad they showed charity still in turmoil after the verdict. Would have been so easy to make out that she'd be a le to just close that chapter and move on. But I suspect the reality will just be sinking in that no matter the sentence, it still happened.
Bit like after a funeral and suddenly there's more emptiness and you're just expected to get on with it.

actualpuffins · 13/09/2018 08:46

I like Rhona's hair! Though I'm not keen on Rhona as a character.

Yes, the portrayal of Charity seems pretty well done at the moment. I would hope the writers would have good advisers on criminal justice system storylines.

bonfireheart · 13/09/2018 19:02

I haven't watched the last couple of episodes so this might have happened. But the Rebecca storyline is a mess. She's a high risk missing person (has a brain injury, problems with memory, needs to take medication, known to be related to a serial killer). Her photo would be all over the local news and an appeal made for her. The nurse, who looks pretty official with her uniform, clipboard and medicine would soon see this. If nothing else Lachlan's photo would be on the news. Why they are letting Belle talk to him is beyond me.

BolleauxtoBankers · 13/09/2018 19:27

Yep, bonfireheart, I've been screaming at the telly "doesn't she read the newspapers!" every time I see that nurse! Even if she was unaware of Rebecca being missing, she would surely have noticed the headlines about Lachlan's arrest and realise leaving messages on his mobile would be futile as he was in prison!

JaneJeffer · 13/09/2018 19:32

I'm really enjoying Lachlan. He's so good at being bad Grin

I wonder what the nurse was writing in the clipboard. She had reams of stuff but Rebecca has spent most of the time doped up and asleep.

user1471453601 · 13/09/2018 19:36

Ooh, just when you think Lachlan cannot get any worse, he does. Brilliant acting, he scared the shot out of me☺

user1471453601 · 13/09/2018 19:38

Sorry, that should read "shit", as far as I know I haven't got any "shot" to have scared out of me

PrincessScarlett · 13/09/2018 23:23

Haha! He's going to take Belle down with him. Genius!

Susiesoap7 · 14/09/2018 09:24

Love Lachlan, may he be forever evil!
Can't stand charity or belle
Love rhonas hair!
Hope Lachlan escapes and continues to reek havoc
Rebecca should have been just another of his victims!

mumtothebabes123 · 14/09/2018 09:31

The actor who plays Lachlan is sooo good!
Most of the others are crap tho 😳

kikashi · 14/09/2018 11:50

Anyone else not convinced by Charity and Vanessa? Zero chemistry - I just don't buy them as a couple.

JaneJeffer · 14/09/2018 12:16

I agree kickashi. Vanessa drains the life out of Charity IMO.

HettySunshine · 14/09/2018 13:32

Can't Belle just tell the police to speak to Robert? He was there when Lachlan confesses all to her so he would be able to confirm she wasn't involved.

JaneJeffer · 14/09/2018 13:52

Lucky will probably try to tell them Robert was in on it as well so that he and Aaron could keep Seb Grin
