Anyone else ridiculously excited about the His Dark Materials BBC adaptation?

So excited about this. They are my favourite books, and the film adaptation was a wet fart.

Really hope they stay true to the books and don’t shy off on the anti-religion/church sentiment. The cast looks amazing too. Really excited to see it.

Me! Loved the books, loved the film, don't understand why it didn't do better?
Looking forward to the new series, I guess it won't be for ages?

Ohhh this is the first time I've seen the casting and now I'm even more excited! I tweeted Philip Pullman about this two years ago and then chased him up last year - when he replied I was starstruck!

I loved these books and the cast looks amazing

Was really disappointed in the film but I don't think a film would do the books justice this might have a chance

The film had potential but was too rushed, and glossed over the religious elements a lot. Which were absolutely crucial to the story. I also felt like Nicole Kidman was miscast.

Hopefully the series will be able to go into a lot more detail and won’t shy away from the more controversial elements of the story.

But they are leaving out the witches

Dafne Keen was jaw droppingly amazing in Logan. A stunning performance. Great casting.

I feel like the nostalgic reverence I have for the books is far safer with this adaptation than with the film, from quotes like these they are treating it with a lot of love and respect

So so excited for this!! Don't know how many times I've read the books. Wanted to love the film but Nicole Kidman angers me greatly - this cast looks amazing though! The actress playing Lyra was fantastic in Logan. Hadn't heard about it until now so thank you for making my day!

Dd and ds are excited. Dd loved the books as a pre teen and they are both huge LM-M fans.

Have mixed feelings on this. I didn't watch the film because I didn't want their images to replace the ones in my head. Same feelings about TV adaptation (especially if they're not putting the witches in...) - but DS has just started enjoying the books and think he would want to watch...Hope they do it justice!
