Am I the only one who is so desperately sad for him.

What an eye opener. I have never taken to John Bishop and tbh he is a crap interviewer. But any misconceptions about Paddy and Christine have gone. Talking about his single mum raising him was heartfelt.

And how sad when he realised other kids were so different to his own kids. We as parents take everything for granted.

What show was this?

pennycarbonara · 20/07/2018 01:01

Read an article about them recently. Do they employ any carers or nannies? The report made it sound as if they were under massive stress trying to do everything themselves, despite being be able to afford a lot more support than an average family.

Hi Each it was John Bishop. On Watch? I used to groan when DD watched Take Me Out, and had no interest with the rumours about Paddy and Christine.
But what an eye opener. I wish them all the luck in the world. What an amazing family.

I've just watched this. It was so sad to see him so upset and struggling to describe how he feels and what his life is like with autistic children.
I'm presuming that they don't have help as he stated that he'd only been on a night out with his wife a handful of times due to the difficulties with the children.

What programme was this please? I will watch on catch up tomorrow.

isithotinhereorisitjustme · 26/07/2018 10:40

I watched it on the recommendation of a friend as our youngest is severely autistic - that part of the interview was such a genuine portrayal of the myriad of emotions you go through on a daily basis that I think he will have helped a lot of parents feel slightly less alone. There is a lot of support on facebook groups/ other social media, which can be a lifesaver when the isolation becomes a bit too much - I hope they can get similar help but I imagine it's tough being so well known to maintain anonymity.
