Did anyone see this last night on the BBC, it was very sad. I think I struggle with this a bit too but not as badly, at least not anymore as the poor girl on the programme. Very sad :(

Yes it was very sad to watch how badly it affected her and how low her self esteem was. It must be really difficult for the boyfriend too to know what to do or say.

I didnt see all of it, what was the outcome in the end? did the therapy help at all?

I think she was improving a bit and she had got to the point where she accepted she was ill.

I felt for her boyfriend also and thought he was a good man for standing by her although both seemed to say that they were unsure if the relationship would survive.

It would be lovely to think she would recover and they could have a happy life together, he was a lovely looking lad too.

I think that like many mental illnesses BDD is probably something that you never fully recover from. I was in my late 30's before I reached a kind of acceptance that while I wasn't beautiful I wasn't hideous either and could still make the best of myself and be attractive enough. Still I have my bad days. Mostly though I wish I could go back and shake my 22 year old self out of it.

I though the 49 year old who had been diagnosed at 39 was looking fab for 49 at least 10 years younger.
