Watched on a whim, and finding it surprisingly enjoyable - Sniffer

It's an Ukrainian tv series, maybe a little bit formulaic but the relationships are interesting and it moves along at a good pace. It reminds me a little bit of Lie to Me, in as much as the protagonist is quirky, grumpy man with an unique skill set, in this case an analytical sense of smell, which he contracts out to the police force, and a complicated family life.

I am a bit surprised that there are apparently only two types of Ukranian dwelling, either huge, high-ceilinged, modern, minimalist, steel and glass houses/penthouses or a dingy, tenement flat in an 18th century building, faded glamour on the outside and missing bits of plaster on the inside.

It's pretty humourous, which I didn't expect from a former Eastern bloc country.

I've watched all three series now and have become practically fluent in Russian (not). Grin It got better in series two and three because they had a longer story arc as well as the individual mysteries.

Only a few episodes into it, but I'm really enjoying it too! I'd never heard of it but glad I found it when doing the old 'scrolling through Netflix for two hours to find stuff'.

I'm glad someone else has watched it too. I felt like I was talking to myself there. Grin I wonder if they're going to make another series, perhaps involving more of the Estonian detective (he's in series 3, very attractive although not my usual type).
