Blimey! How old must Floella Benjamin be - but she looks about 30!

Just seen her doing the story on CBeebies (what a pro btw). I remember watching her when I was young enough to watch Play School and I'm 37. Yet she looks significantly younger than me.

Floella is gawj

Wasn't she in a sketch show recently where she was being a bit racy - she flung off her coat and was wearing a dress and very high heels?

snowleopard · 21/05/2007 19:45

Look at Big Ted in that Hamble pic. Terrifying.

THE NEKJCLACE

AitchTwoOh · 21/05/2007 19:46

hamble always reminded me of princess margaret in her wild mustique days. a bit bloated and shagged out from having A Good Time.

Mercy · 21/05/2007 19:48

Brian Cant was fab in Play Away

Who is woman wearing the short dress. Lesley?

AitchTwoOh · 21/05/2007 19:49

brian cant was on this morning fairly recently. isn't he fern bil or something like that?

TinyGang · 21/05/2007 19:51

Cod do you mean the necklace that Floella always always wears?? I remember it!!

princessmel · 21/05/2007 19:54

I loved Play school. Mum says that we used to run home from nursery to watch it. It was about the only peace she got from us!

She also used to measure time in playschools. ie ' we're going out in 1 playschool' or 'It will take 2 playschools to get there' Fab!

princessmel · 21/05/2007 19:55

BTW yes she does look very good for her age

pointydog · 21/05/2007 20:00

snowleopard, I disagree. I lurved Humpty. Actually I liked Jemima too and got very sub-standard versions of both for brithdays or Christmases.

TinyGang · 21/05/2007 20:19

What about Big Ted and Little Ted though? Do you think they were 'having a relationship'?

snowleopard · 21/05/2007 20:19

Have to agree Humpty was the coolest - but none of them were endearing.

IMHO.

Had no idea about Big Ted and Little Ted! But obviously my gaydar wasn't so developed back in the 70s...

Nor was mine - but in retrospect, they were definately up to something.

I actually called my mum and told her to put CBeebies on when I saw her

margoandjerry · 21/05/2007 20:25

love Brian Cant. Just typed Brian Can't - my fingers did it automatically

Also loved Derek Griffiths - the gangly limbed one. And had a minor crush on Jonathan Cohen the piano player on Playaway

margo, I loved Play away as well.

I often watch Tikkabilla (with mindees, not on my own), and when they go to the clock or the windows I say to mindees
"That's just like play school". Needless to say they haven't a clue what I'm on about

margoandjerry · 21/05/2007 20:31

LOL at "not on my own" !

I have actually been known to watch Blue Peter on my own! When I lived in Switzerland it used to be on BBC Prime and I happily watched it [sad smiley]. Partly because there was nothing else to watch, partly out of nostalgia and partly because I genuinely quite liked it

TinyGang · 21/05/2007 20:34

Check out Brian's hat in this clip He's also pushing some gear but I think we should draw a veil over that.
