Anybody watching this on BBC iPlayer? (Or who already watched it?)

I'm skeptical starting it but will be interested to see what happens and if they catch up with the dieters later down the line.

(Plus if they come up with some shit recipes like Eat Well For Less)!

I watched it last night. The results appeared impressive.

I contacted a Cambridge Diet consultant today after watching it

Years ago I knew someone who did, I think, Lighter Life. They were 30st and lost 20st. Trouble is they then needed loads of surgery to take away all the extra skin that was hanging in folds all over. Last I heard they'd put most of the weight back on whilst on the surgery waiting list. So I'm not sure how sustainable the weight loss is. It would be interesting if the programme could go back to these people after two or three years.

ElfrideSwancourt · 02/06/2018 10:27

I know lots of people who've done Lighter Life and all but one gained the weight back again. It's also sooo expensive (don't know about Cambridge diet).

twotallgiraffes · 02/06/2018 10:57

Lighter life is awful. I lost 4 stone in 9 weeks many years ago and ended up in hospital with gallstones. I had to have my gall bladder removed. The weight obviously went back on quite quickly. Slimming world is the only way for me to lose weight.

ElfrideSwancourt · 02/06/2018 14:24

@twotallgiraffes I agree completely- I looked in Lighter Life a few years ago but was put off by the price and my GP wouldn't sign me off to do it- I was really cross at the time but am v glad I listened to him.
SW works really well for me too - I've lost the same amount of weight in a v similar timescale as the people on the programme, but I am following SW and eating real food!

I'm really tempted to do the Cambridge Diet now. Anyone else? But £50/week seems a lot, considering I could just eat less crap for free.

But it's tempting.

ChampagneCommunist · 02/06/2018 17:14

I watched it and have started (day 2). Cambridge diet is too expensive; I am using XSL (or maybe XLS) which is £14 in Boots & £11 on Amazon

WhatsGoingOnEh · 02/06/2018 17:22

How are you feeling?

WhatsGoingOnEh · 02/06/2018 17:23

I have loads and loads of SlimFast here that I could just use up. 🤣 I'll do that this week.

twotallgiraffes · 02/06/2018 18:47

@ElfrideSwancourt I was paying £66 a week for shakes and soups. God knows where I found that money! Insane. I love slimming world I lost 8 and a half stone a few years ago but over the years a lot has crept back on so am doing slimming world again right now. It's a constant battle Blush

WhatsGoingOnEh · 02/06/2018 18:59

£66 a week!!! The website says it's only £50 a week. Why do you think it was more?

ChampagneCommunist · 02/06/2018 20:49

Feeling OK. Seems like every TV advert is food related though!
