Thirteen Reasons Why - any watchers?

10 mins in to episode 12 and have to say - wow. I didn’t know how they would follow up the first season, but this one is a cracker.

Have to say, with my limited legal knowledge, I’m surprised at how the trial is going. It seems to have drifted pretty far from the point at this stage (although am cheering on the outcome they’re all hoping for)

*deliberately vague because spoilers.

I've watched the whole of series 2 and the last episode is shocking in many, many ways. It's been much better than the first series though and has a collection of really great actors and actresses.

PinotAndPlaydough · 24/05/2018 20:37

I’ve just finished binge watching series 2, the last episode was awful. I’m normally pretty hardy and unshockable, I watched some of that from behind a cushion, cried at one point and felt slight disturbed by it all. It kept me awake last night.
It was brilliant television and so well acted but really hard to watch.

DeathByMascara · 24/05/2018 22:46

I’ve just finished it and totally get what you mean PinotAndPlaydough - some of it was a really tough watch. Didn’t end the way I thought it would though.

I've just finished it. Feel sick, disgusted and furious. And not just about that scene. The whole episode was just injustice. Hope there's a season 3 because nothing was tied up.

cc5601 · 24/05/2018 23:02

Damn looks like I'm gonna have to get Netflix again. Is it a different story or same characters? Confused

MakeItStopNeville · 24/05/2018 23:05

I’m just finished episode 4 and now, reading this, may have to push myself through it. I’m a little underwhelmed so far.

Fevs · 24/05/2018 23:09

I absolutely loved series one! Put ep 1 of series 2 on last night and was so disappointed. It felt far more ‘teeny’ than the first series and so unrealistic. I didn’t understand why they even bothered with doing a second series.
From the sounds of it I should give it another shot though...?

QueenofSerene · 24/05/2018 23:58

I'm up to about episode 6 of Season 2 at the moment, I kind of like the way it's delving more into Hannah's life since the first series was pretty much 'her' story.. goes to that whole 'there's always three sides to a story' concept.. keen to see how it ends, trying so hard not to binge watch it too quickly though, it's hard.

GooodMythicalMorning · 25/05/2018 00:02

Did they really need to be so graphic in that last episode though?! Was a bit much for me but loved the season overall

DeathByMascara · 25/05/2018 08:33

Can’t speak for how graphic that scene was, as I hid behind a cushion. Was too much for me, felt sick.

And those who think it starts off slow, please continue watching it - it is excellent.

I binged watched this at the beginning of the week. I think they did a really good job of it. Even the thing with Tyler, he'd taken so much bullying in the past and actually was pretty able to deal with it all, it took that horrific attack for him to actually snap.

I'm glad it ended the way it did though, although what Clay did would have been so wrong in that actual situation.

I watched Beyond The Reasons (season 2) last night and I think this should be watched alongside the main show.
Things like the outcome for Bryce didn't seem fair, but that is what happens all the time in real life and that was what they were going for.

That scene on the dancefloor in the last episode ended me, I was in floods.

Titsywoo · 25/05/2018 21:51

I'm not sure if it was better than the first series but it was definitely as good. The last episode was really shocking though. When that graphic scene happened I had to pause and catch my breath twice as I was so shocked by it. I assume they have left it open for another season.

lou1221 · 27/05/2018 17:12

Started watching first series, up to ep 3, finding it a bit slow at the moment. Hopefully picks up soon.

fcekinghell · 27/05/2018 17:20

Just finished. Poor Tyler!

I'm wonder if that's the last we will see of Bryce.

Wonder what happens now Hannah's story has ended?

Tiddler7 · 29/05/2018 13:10

I just finished watching, way better than series 1, bat last episode, OMG...

4forkssake · 29/05/2018 13:48

Never watched the show but have a question. DS (just turned 12) has a friend in his class (so also either 11 or 12) who was asking if any of the other friends were watching. I'm taking from reading this thread that it really not suitable for their age range? I'd never heard of the programme before.

GooodMythicalMorning · 29/05/2018 13:52

No not suitable for that age range. Can be quite graphic in violence

lindauk5 · 31/05/2018 23:40

Just finished season two. Think I'm in shock a bit as it keeps playing round in my head and I can't sleep... and it's is 100% not suitable for 12 year olds

lou1221 · 01/06/2018 18:47

My son, who is almost 14, watched the first series, he didn't say anything at all, but I've just finished it and I've told him he cannot watch the 2nd series. I found the rape and suicide scenes too graphic, I've read the spoilers for what happens at the end of series 2 and I cannot allow him to watch it.

lynmilne65 · 01/06/2018 19:27

Oh don't have Netflix 😩

WhoWants2Know · 02/06/2018 22:47

Oh god, I just finished that episode. I couldn't watch that scene and it will still keep me up tonight.

I'm so glad Clay didn't get shot, though!

jay55 · 03/06/2018 07:15

I fast forwarded through that scene.
The second season Hannah’s story was so different a Hannah to the season one one that it was hard to reconcile for me. But we don’t know which bits are true from either side I suppose.

4forkssake · 03/06/2018 13:55

Thankfully my DS doesn't want to watch it & I've no idea if any other friends (aside from this one girl who mentioned it) watch but it certainly sound like she shouldn't be 😳. Not my child however so I'll put my judge pants away
