Anyone watching the sperm donation "documentary" on BBC3?

Its quite funny but sad too. Presenter just tried to get some Labour MPs to donate sperm given its their fault that there is a national shortage of sperm donators.

just saw the start and was quite that the sperm donor was being filmed whilst donating ! then switched over

they did not actually show the "bad" bit. The guy is just travelling round trying to persuade people to donate in quite a funny way. Apparantly last year only 200 people donated in the whole of the UK!

Gosh. In Wales only 10 people donated last year . There is a five wait for sperm if you are an infertile couple who need it. This is all since they removed anonimity for donors.

But it was right to remove the anonymity surely?

Well, kids have a right to know their heritage, no?

The thing is many kids, who would be much wanted members of loving families, will not be conceived because of this law. Childless couple now have almost no hope if their problem stems from having no sperm. Also there is a loop hole in the law as you can import foreign sperm - so if the argument is that all kids should be able to know then the law is flawed.

Also if you donate you have to fill in a family health history etc so your kids would know that.

Oh, I do understand the counter-arguments and do feel sorry for childless couples who will have/have had their hopes dashed by this but...I'm afraid I still defend the right of the child to have that information.
