Making a murderer on Netflix

Has anyone watched this. I've just finished it. I really don't know what to think! Watching it I really thought that he was innocent. But after the verdicts I just don't know. I felt really sorry for Brendan the nephew as well. It really did seem that he had been set up to make it look like Steven had done it.

I was just wondering what everyone else had thought about it.

I really want to believe he is innocent. Feel that Brendan is 100% innocent and there was a real miscarriage of justice for him. Would love for there to be a follow up episode to show what has happened since.

If you read more about the case online it seems the makers of this left out quite a bit of info that made them look more guilty than the show leads you to believe.
The one thing I found odd about the case was that nobody ever seemed to suspect the boyfriend.

The verdicts actually contradict each other, it's nonsensical that they can coexist.

I think Brendan is innocent and I have a suspicion that Stephen is guilty, but the police department were so desperate to jail him that they planted evidence, which is obviously appalling.

Really want to watch the second series.

Comealongpond89 · 11/05/2018 22:28

I thought that about how it was made to look like he was innocent. I did think it was odd that there was no blood anywhere. And that no one questioned the boyfriend or her room mate who didn't report her missing for 3 days. They didn't question anyone else which is weird. In that interview with Brendan it was so obvious that they were giving him the answers and he was just guessing and agreeing. Poor kid.

Google it for more updates. More has happened since

Comealongpond89 · 11/05/2018 22:48

Ooh I've just read the updates. Brendans conviction was overturned but then the original verdict was upheld again. Steven has hired another lawyer but all appeals have been denied. There looks like there will be a follow up series about this but don't know when it will be aired. Apparently there's also talk of a series from the police and prosecutors side.

I just think the involvement of the 2 guys from the police who were involved in his wrongful conviction, Lenk and Coburn, was dodgy. And the fact they didn't find the key until they had searched his place for the 7th time was odd. I'd be interested to see more on it.

I tried but found it one of the most mind numbingly boring things I have ever watched on TV and couldn't managed to finish it. I thought it was obvious Stephen did it ( but I only manages maybe 3 of the 150 hrs of it Confused)

Genuinely couldn't understand the hype at all.

RedDwarves · 11/05/2018 23:02

I am adamant that he’s guilty.

Have a look on Reddit. It’s discussed in great depth there and there’s a wealth of information which was left out of the “documentary”.

crazycatgal · 11/05/2018 23:03

I think he is definitely guilty.

Jigglyguff · 12/05/2018 13:39

If you like this style of documentary and don't mind a bit a lot of silliness, give American Vandal a try.

lostinjapan · 13/05/2018 07:10

I think Steven killed her, but if I'd been on the jury I'd have voted 'not guilty' (that's based on the documentary alone, I haven't read anything further).

Don't ask for my reasons, because I've got a mind like a sieve and I've forgotten everything already, but that was my conclusion on watching the show. I'm not sure about Brendan, but I definitely don't think he should have been convicted either.

CisTerfsAreDoinItForTheShelves · 24/06/2018 16:35

I’d bet my house Stephen did it. Ffs he’s a redneck psycho who threw a cat in a fire.
