I am Whizz - isn't fascinating the way that they see everything so logically.

The part where they visited the sheltered housing for the elderly made me fill up. They just couldn't understand why we don't look after our old people could they?

Loved it when the chap poured them a glass of "nice" wine and they said it tasted just like "steam"

Really interesting, we lived in PNG for a couple of years, though in the capital, so it's really bringing back memories.

Whizzz · 15/05/2007 20:58

It's just briliant...yes, I though the sheltered housing bit was very moving. Saying that the couples SIL should come & look after them a they had given him their daughter.

It's on again next week isn't it? Must put it on Sky Plus in case I forget it's on.

I'm aware that this may sound patronising (and it's certainly not meant to be) but they seem such lovely, gentle people with a real sense of family and community which we seem to have lost sight of in many ways in the so-called developed world.

Great.......now I sound like my mum!

I thought it was so funny when the farmer was concerned that the chief was going too fast on the quad bike and told him to get off.
FGS this is a man who hunts crocodiles with his bare hands!

Kathyis6incheshigh · 16/05/2007 10:24

Wasn't it great?
The woman - I can't remember her name - was clearly really shaken by what she saw in the old people's home.
Very sobering, I thought.

And interesting that they were struck by the fact that there were no young people at the livestock auction.

babyblue2 · 16/05/2007 10:38

Oh piddle I missed it.

thehairybabysmum · 16/05/2007 10:45

This was fab...i missed last weeks though.

I thought the sheltered housing bit was v. moving. Also loved the bit where it said the chief was in love...then showed him watching the quad bike...i always think they look great to have a go on!

Felt a bit sorry for the ones who went to Weston in comparison...couldnt they have sent them to a seaside town where you can actually see the sea...grew up down that neck of the woods and spent many a hpayy summer holiday paddling in mud not sea !!!

hijack sorry...Kathy, have i met your taller alter ego recently??

Kathyis6incheshigh · 16/05/2007 10:56

Hey Hairy - yes, I shrunk to 6 inches on Fri night for a chat thread and am planning on staying this size now.

Tomatoes are doing very happily on my windowsill.

I thought it was brilliant, saw it last week too. It is so nice to see it the other way round for a change, not just westerners trying to integrate into other cultures for 3 days at a time, although I very much enjoyed tribe on bbc2

Tribe was great. I adore Bruce Parry.
