I really had high hopes she would improve things but it got so bad at one point I stopped watching altogether. I really hope whoever comes in next brings back corrie humour, gets new owners for the Rovers (like peter and Toyah but not as the landlord/landlady) and gets rid of the dead wood.
🤞

How long to turn a tanker?

I stopped watching a few weeks ago. Check in to threads here and haven't seen a single comment that has made me think I made the wrong call. And of course with the stuff in The Guardian about how the current management cares more about Twitter reaction levels than audience reaction as a whole, and the contrast to Classic Corrie, also reinforced the decision.

Has the successor been appointed, and when might a change in style be perceptible?

I might start watching again, if it ever gets over the blink-and-you've-missed-it set if storylines, superficial characterisation and general over-sensationalist approach. But that might take a while, and might never come.

PS: anyone else notice that the runner who came 4th in women's section of this year's London Marathon was Tracey Barlow?

It’ll be a good few months a least, legacy of ongoing storylines David, and the Phelan storyline goes on until Michelle’s wedding apparently so that will all need resolving.
Plus obviously there’s a huge new set they’ve invested in so that will have be used well.
It feels bloated in some ways but in others the plots are stretched across so many episodes the obvious solution for quality would be cut episode numbers and reduce cast but since they make so much off advertisements that won’t happen!
Let’s hope they invest in some decent writers and some that will preserve history and look at continuity as that does my absolute head in the character personality changes on a daily basis- consistency please corrie

It's interesting that she left a year before her contract was supposed to end so she was probably let go by ITV. It's not that surprising when you think of all the negative press Corrie has had over the past year or so. I don't think she was as bad as Stuart Blackburn but her emphasis on issue led story's was wrong.

Iain MacLeod from Emmerdale is her replacement.

Does anyone watch emmerdale will he be a good replacement?

I was wandering did she leave voluntarily ?
Sadly Emmerdale has gone downhill too. I don't understand why they completely change peoples characters.
Emmerdale has also gone for too many over dramatic stories at once.
Sneeze and you miss yet another kidnapping !

The trouble with Corrue now is nothing us slow burning. I remember when Peter had an affair with Tina and it was going on for ages, more true to real life, with lots of building it up and then the lies and deceit so it felt HUGE when it all came out. Nowadays everything happens so fast in such a short space of time that it's like a slapstick comedy. I wish they could at least TRY to make things more 'real time' and believable. And I HATE the lazy plot devices such as someone finding out something simply by overhearing a conversation. Happens so many times!

Or David and Emma last night
One beer, one shag, and their moving in together

I can’t think of one good story he authorised in the two years he was in Emmerdale.
