Spanish programmes on Netflix?

They are on Canadian Netflix, but I don't know where else they are available. Does anyone else watch them? Grand Hotel, Money Heist, Morocco, Velvet and it's spinoff, Velvet Collection? Aside from Money Heist, they are quite soapy, but I love them. There are many very handsome men in the casts, which might have something to do with my interest.

I don't speak Spanish but I feel I could manage as I've watched so many of these. Grin

Mar de plástico was quite good to watch. But I'm Spanish so know most of the actors....

yotica · 18/04/2018 18:05

Oh and El Ministerio del tiempo and Paquita Salas too.

WildCherryBlossom · 18/04/2018 18:37

Yes Paquita Salas was good. I have tried to watch several of the Latin American telenovelas on Netflix but I can't really get into them.

Andylion · 18/04/2018 18:38

I'll look for those. There are many actor I recognize now, Amaia Salamanca (sp.) is in three of those I mentioned, Yon Gonzalez, from Grand Hotel is also in Cable Girls, which I forgot to list. Really, too many to list!

I am almost through Morocco which I watched because Amaia is in it.

Can you recommend anything else I might find on Netflix?

WildCherry, can you remember any of the telenovela titles?

I started to watch Velvet, but then I got a bit pissed off with how the heroine behaved so I stopped. El Ministerio del Tiempo is on my list, it's the sort of thing that I usually like so it's worth a try.

I've been on the look out for some interesting German series/films, because I used to live in Germany but haven't spoken German for 20 years and it would be good to get my ear in again. Nothing has appealed to me in German though.

MrsRobot71 · 18/04/2018 20:07

Gran Hotel is on UK Netflix

shartsi · 18/04/2018 20:21

I am currently obsessed with Turkish series. My favourite are Winter Sun and Seyit &Sura. The leading men are sexy.

Allthebestnamesareused · 18/04/2018 20:22

I am.watching Lifeline which is on ALL4

dingdongdigeridoo · 18/04/2018 22:27

I love Telenovelas! I really want to learn Spanish as its such a lively language. I’ve watched many episodes of Pasión de Gavilanes, a tale of vengeance that features lots of men with their shirts off!

Andylion · 19/04/2018 01:17

dingdong, have you seen Jane the Virgin?

Try the Mexican offering Sr. Avila on All 4 Walter Presents. Very different.

frenchysummersun · 24/04/2018 16:13

The Moroccan one in your second photo is on British Netflix - I wasted days watching it, thought I was fluent by the time it finished Blush

Andylion · 24/04/2018 22:33

frenchy, "wasted" as in, it wasn't worth your time?

I feel fluent in Spanish, too.

Casa de papel (money heist) was amazing!

dingdongdigeridoo · 24/04/2018 22:50

Andylion - I have been trying to get into Jane the Virgin. Got some time off soon so might have to binge watch.

If you watch one Spanish show on Netflix you’ll be recommended them forever! I’m getting recommendations for Spanish stand up shows.

ohdearwhatcanthematterbee · 24/04/2018 22:50

I’d love to do this! Can you get subtitles on Netflix? Jane the Virgin has definitely improved my rolling rrrrrrrs, so I think I’m ready for real Rogelios! Grin

Andylion · 24/04/2018 23:03

All the non-English shows, (French, German, Spanish) I have watched on Netflix have subtitles.

@dingdongdigeridoo, Jane is not to every one's taste, but I really enjoyed it.

By "Spanish stand up shows" do you mean as in stand-up comedy? I think I'd miss the nuance in that in Spanish.

I had started to watch the first episode El ministerio del tiempo but gave up. A posted on this thread reminded me of it, so I gave it another try. So far, so good. It is a little different.

I want to watch this. I've enjoyed Locked Up, which is about a Spanish Women's Prison, also on All 4 Walter Presents, there's 2 series.

This seems to be a bit of a theme with Channel 4, so see if there are any others

www.channel4.com/programmes/categories/world-drama

You can watch online I think, so no need for any subscriptions.

dingdongdigeridoo · 25/04/2018 12:36

Yes, I meant stand up comedy done by Spanish/Mexican comedians. I watched a little bit of one and the jokes just went over my head! Probably a good way to learn about the culture though.

frenchysummersun · 26/04/2018 00:37

Sorry Andy I forgot I commented!! No I loved it, was fabulous. I got far too overinvested Blush

ShirleyValentineswall · 26/04/2018 10:58

ChuChuUa · 17/07/2018 02:53

Sorry I know this is a bit of an old thread now but has anyone watched La Reina del Sur?
