Greys Anatomy 😁 but Amelia Shepherd 😬

So I’ve discovered Greys and have watched up to series 11. I’m having to fast forward the Amelia stuff, she is really spoiling it for me!! Her voice grates and she is so not a Brain surgeon! Did anyone actually like her? Does she get better? ( I know she’s winning Owen over)

Yes I think my problem is I’m missing Christina ( & Mark) Glad it’s not just me, Maggie doesn’t bother me as much but I wouldn’t let her near my heart . Loving it all though.

I like Amelia. I liked Maggie for her first season but cannot stand her now. Sick of the Maggie Show.

Not a fan of either Amelia or Maggie - the early seasons with Derek are definitely the best!

Amelia and Maggie are weak characters compared to those in the earlier series. Have you come across the drippy New Zealander yet? He's pretty insipid.

The whole thing of doctors aged 30/35 being "the best", world-renowned etc. It's absurd, especially when you consider that students take a bit longer to qualify than in the UK. Amelia is a very unrealistic brain surgeon. At least Maggie's youth is (sort of) explained by her having been academically brilliant and ahead of her peers.

@scrabbler3 yes yes yes. Richard is the only older doctor. Next season might be interesting after two of the doctors leave.

Richards wife is the worst. She would be mil from hell! Amelia is dull - both she and Maggie are so contrived as characters. Think the writers just couldn't decide where to go and had lost the good characters, so roped these ones in.
Maggie and Jackson is just wrong. Hr belongs with April.
I do like the addition of the guy from Ally McBeal though.

I didn't like Amelia either but then watched Private Practice the whole way through & she really grew on me after that as she has a significant back story that makes her a much better character overall.

The problem is, in the latest season, it is not character driven but politically motivated. The storylines feel mostly political messages designed to tell us how we should think or feel at the expense of the characters.

I have only recently discovered Greys, I have just finished the episode where Burke offers Cristina his job . I'm surprised I got this far , Meredith annoys the shit out of me .

Meredith is definitely the most annoying character, closely followed by her two “sisters”. And what the hell happens to Meredith’s kids when she stays at work all night or goes to the pub after work? It’s as if they don’t exist!

Actually Bailey and Richard are the only characters I like.

Amelia and Maggie are both whiny PITAs. Maggie's huge miffs are as wearing as Amelia's non stop freak outs.

The latest series isn't great. April leapt valiantly on the last episode and just about succeeded in resuscitating it, but it was a near thing.

Cristina Yang and Addison Montgomery Shepherd and George and Burke and Bailey are/were the only truly good characters

I do have a soft spot for April.

Burke was uber cool, I shall miss Cristina

I used to love this show but since Derek, it has lost its way.

I love Meredith but she has been pushed aside in favour of the 'agenda' of the show

I have given up - th e first few episodes of this season were so awful that I've not watched. I agree with someone upthread who said that the episodes seem to be "educatioal" and are very broad brush stroke.
