It’s heartwarming so far!

I'm really enjoying it! But what the hell did the smokers think - that they'd be allowed out to smoke?

HollowTalk · 10/04/2018 20:32

Some of them MUST be Mumsnetters - come on, own up!

HollowTalk · 10/04/2018 20:43

Nobody else watching it?

Etino · 10/04/2018 20:44

Love the headmaster and the school and kids! Those grounds!

All the parents seem to have had a tricky time themselves in school

Etino · 10/04/2018 20:46

Just you and me Hollow 😂
My dcs spent a few years in primary school in Australia and it reminds me of that rather than their grey stressed UK experience.

I’m waiting think the decorator is going to be trouble he doesn’t like rules.

Dancingmonkey87 · 10/04/2018 20:50

Watching*

@Dancingmonkey87
That awkward moment when he mentioned prison. Blush

Yes, I think the decorator is trouble, too! Attractive, good fun, but trouble - I bet he's always been like that. It's funny how they can't accept rules - what did they think it was going to be like?

HollowTalk · 10/04/2018 20:55

Yes... it went quiet when he mentioned prison!

HollowTalk · 10/04/2018 20:56

Some of these kids are really cute.

Midnightpony · 10/04/2018 20:57

I love the principal. What a nice man

NeverTwerkNaked · 10/04/2018 20:57

I’m watching! DSD is in year 6. I’ve got two degrees but I find her homework quite tough sometimes Grin.
I love the dad whose son was saying his dad would be the one that looked after everyone else. And the lady who is legal guardian

Midnightpony · 10/04/2018 20:58

I like the way the teacher has her hair done every day!

HollowTalk · 10/04/2018 21:01

It's hard for the teacher, because she's younger than a lot of the parents, but has to tell them what to do. That decorator is really pissing me off now - doesn't agree with them taking SATs etc.

Dancingmonkey87 · 10/04/2018 21:21

Oh god I know op I don’t think anyone knew where to look!

purpleme12 · 10/04/2018 21:56

I really liked the autistic kid and his dad. Lovely. I always HATED sports day, always came last, I was never good at PE and never would be good at sports. Wasn't my thing.

I wouldn't have a clue at the maths they do but I'd ace the spellings I think.

purpleme12 · 10/04/2018 21:57

Yes I agree it must be a bit hard for the teacher. It's hard to tell people who are older what to do for a lot of people

NickyNackyNoodleNoo · 11/04/2018 06:40

Really interesting programme, I enjoyed it.

Yep, the decorator bloke was trouble, is trouble and always will be trouble, even his son said so! I wonder how he did in his maths test and whether it's a front for not knowing what's going on or just his reverted behaviour.

I feel sorry for the teacher, it must be hard telling adults what to do, 'right class 6M go wash your hands' Grin

Loved the two autistic brothers and their dad, it's true years ago it just wasn't mentioned/known about. I went to school back in the eighties with a lad who was lovely but clearly different, it was said he wasn't 'firing on all cylinders' - looking back he was autistic but we all just accepted him with his many quirks, he never got bullied we all just got on with life and helped him best we could. The eldest lad last night reminded me so much of him he was just lovely like him and you just want to cheer him on.

Looking forward to next week.

HollowTalk · 11/04/2018 10:05

I thought the decorator was likely to have had difficulty learning in school and used distraction techniques to try to hide that fact.

lazymum99 · 11/04/2018 13:07

I really enjoyed this. Thought the head master was brilliant. I liked the way he allowed competition in sports day but gave one point for just managing to start a race.
The decorator bloke is definitely covering up difficulties by stating he doesn't believe in SATs.
The trailer for next week showed an adult spelling persuade with a 'W' instead of a 'U'. Embarrassing.

serfandterf101 · 12/04/2018 19:14

Just watched this on catch-up with DS (14). Interesting to see the Y6 class having maths and art and PE timetabled over two days (as it should be) so that most childrens strengths can be practised. My DS did well at primary but has never much enjoyed academics and loves sports: he remarked that it was really important that everyone did a bit of everything and making kids afraid of maths in Y6 obviously made a difference to their adult life.

We also noticed the awkward 'prison' remark Grin

Wouldnt it be fab if every primary school could have a class of parents for a week every year?! Would dispel many of the myths about school and teaching. Encourage the most gobby playground parents to participate and the rumour mill would dissipate 🤣

SarfE4sticated · 26/04/2018 22:02

I'm still watching it - god I love it! All of the stories are so positive, all parents doing their best, despite what our original assumptions were when we first saw them. Mrs Mead is wonderful too, I love her.

purpleme12 · 26/04/2018 22:07

Yes I think it's a good programme
