yes

southeastastra · 05/05/2007 20:41

bits probably terry wogan makes me laugh

RustyBear · 05/05/2007 20:45

Not only do we watch Eurovision, we have a little spreadsheet where we record our votes from each family member for each song and vote for the one with the highest score.... And then we record the countries' voting & analyse the political patterns. (DH is a ststistician btw, which goes a long way to explain all this...)
But this year DS is at Uni so there will only be 3 of us.
DH is a long term fan, he has reel-to-reel tape recordings of early Eurovision.

southeastastra · 05/05/2007 20:46

ha rustybear my ds(13) would love doing that

RustyBear · 05/05/2007 20:59

Dh refuses to get rid of the reel to reel tapes, despite the fact that he no longer has anything to play them on

willywonka · 05/05/2007 20:59

We have a party each year for Eurovision so will deffo be watching. Recommend having subtitles on too cos they show the english translation of the lyrics which can add the ridiculousness of the occasion

Surfermum · 05/05/2007 21:01

When is it? And what do you do for your party willywonka? I was thinking about having one this year.

lucy5 · 05/05/2007 21:01

I will, watch it every year. My dh would love to do the spreadsheet thing. He's a secret eurovision fan, he says he only watches it because I do.

MrsWho · 05/05/2007 21:10

I didn't think anyone actually watched it (or admitted to it!) now.

I love love LOVE eurovision!!!!!

fishie · 05/05/2007 21:13

yes of course, we have themed food/drink for each entrant. i have got to go out on thurs so will miss semi-final sob.

NadineBaggott · 05/05/2007 21:13

i didn't realise it was next week until i looked at the programme guide and saw a TOTP2 eurovision prog

RustyBear · 05/05/2007 21:14

Maybe we ought to have a MN vote......

RustyBear · 05/05/2007 21:16

purplemonkeywasher - you're very welcome, but we live in Berkshire ..... long way to come for Eurovision.....

purplemonkeydishwasher · 05/05/2007 21:18

darn! well you should post your spreadsheet so we can all take part. your DH could figure out the voting pattern geographically!!

tassis · 05/05/2007 21:22

we're going to a eurovision party

need to dress in colours of country we're supporting and take food from that country

RustyBear · 05/05/2007 21:22

Can you post an Excel file on here? Not sure how.
I could email it if you like but it's really nothing fancy, just a grid with a few formulas (formulae?)

Marina · 05/05/2007 21:24

Your dh sounds like a man after my own heart RustyBear
I'll be watching, I love it too

RustyBear · 05/05/2007 21:26

It was bad enough trying to do an MN commentary on the Grand National, if I'm trying to keep up with god knows how many MNers posting their scores for every song, I'll never get to see any of it myself.

Hmmmm....
On second thoughts, sounds like a good idea!!!

willywonka · 05/05/2007 21:37

It is early this year by a couple of weeks, cos it usually falls on the penultimate Saturday in May. Surfermum - our parties change slightly each year but we do always have guests adopt a country & there is also usually some form of drinking game. Sometimes guests come in national dress, brining regional food, other times we go down the kitsch route. I usually raid the local poundshop for some random prize giving at the end of the night and to date they've always been a great success, even amongst our most sceptical of friends.

missgriss · 05/05/2007 21:40

Terry Wogan makes the Eurovision. He's so dry.

Just seen the song on the lottery show. My early prediction is we will be in the last three.

Fubsy · 05/05/2007 21:43

Will I be watching?

Will I 'eck.

I'll be comforting DD over the lack of Dr Who

willywonka · 05/05/2007 21:46

Terry Wogan is Eurovision. Was very proud when dd knew his name at the age of 2.9 (was dressed up as Terry at one of our parties)!!!

PeachesMcLean · 05/05/2007 21:49

Would love to be watching it. Am supposed to be playing in a concert. Might have to throw a sickie...

kimi · 05/05/2007 21:50

nil points!!

Just saw our entry on the lotto show (too lazy to turn T.V off) and I don't think we will be winning any time soon
