Just finished watching all episodes on iPlayer... Turned out not to be a good choice of tv for a night when DH was away since all the crimes seemed to be against lone women.

I think they're brilliant programmes - nuanced and careful to show both sides. The practicalities of how a state goes about killing its prisoners are so strange, and perhaps even more off-putting than the the ethical aspects.

I wondered who sat on the Clemency hearings board? Until the very last prisoner they didn't recommend clemency for anyone - even the ones whose lawyers cried, or where one of the victims asked for clemency.

I watched most of this. It was difficult watching though, from all sides.

It reaffirmed for me that there are some bad people on this planet and that we should never use the death penalty ever.

I binge watched this the other night and thought it was really interesting.

I'm generally against the death penalty BUT I can see that some people really do need to be locked up forever to stop them harming others. I can also understand that for those closely related to the victims would want the perp dead.

One of the things that struck me the most is just how "normal" many of these men look and act and the fact that there seemed to be a lot of background to them becoming involved in crime in the first place. It really does bring forth the nature Vs nurture thoughts for me.

Really interesting viewing, I really liked the way they showed things from both the family of the victims side and the family of the men on death row.

I have to agree with FuzzyCustard, it just reaffirmed to me I don’t agree with the death penalty even though I totally agree they need to be punished.

I watched them all a little while ago on iPlayer, and the last series too.

It was an EXCELLENT series, very sensitively made and incredibly thought provoking.

I've just finished this The last episode was staggering- the worst crimes but the victims families were so compassionate ...Kayla and her mum were obviously amazing but I was even more touched by the sister of John who challenged her families pro death penalty views and said that John would not have wanted this as a punishment.

The jack jones/ marcel episode was very disturbing and bleak (had to read something cheery to take my mind off it afterwards) and I didn't trust Stacy Johnson and wtf was the romance with a prison warden all about anyway? I think he was after the step daughter
It was very cleverly filmed focusing on journalists putting names in hats to watch the executions etc... fascinating
