Can't believe it; natural causes at 53. Sad loved her in Vicar of Dibley.

She was precious.Sad

Namethecat · 24/02/2018 17:14

So sad to hear this. She was a wonderful actress and her part in V of F was pure comic genius.

youarenotkiddingme · 24/02/2018 17:15

Just heard this. So sad Sad

So young and so hugely talented. She never failed to make me laugh and her work alongside Dawn French was inspired.

BigEthel · 24/02/2018 17:17

So sad. Alice Tinker is one of my favourite characters.

PerfectlyPosed · 24/02/2018 17:19

Very sad

Pancakeflipper · 24/02/2018 17:19

Thats horribly sad news. She always stole the scene in anything she did. Totally magnetic on the screen.

My children have recently begun watching re-runs of VofD and find her character hilarious and Alice and Hugo's wedding is best TV wedding ever.

TheFaerieQueene · 24/02/2018 17:20

So terribly sad.

PrincessMargaret · 24/02/2018 17:22

Oh no! How very sad. I loved her in Vicar of Dibley.

morningtoncrescent62 · 24/02/2018 17:27

I just heard. She was wonderful in Vicar of Dibley. I think was one of her finest performances.

chicken75 · 24/02/2018 17:50

Very sad news. A lovely lady and such a young age.

SureIusedtobetaller · 24/02/2018 18:00

Nooooo
It takes massive talent to be that funny. Alice was one of my favourite characters ever.

PatchworkElmer · 24/02/2018 18:09

So sad 😢

happytobemrsg · 24/02/2018 18:10

Absolutely gutted. Best VoD scene ever:

Alice: You know that stuff that they're selling now at the local shop?

Geraldine Granger: Which stuff?

Alice: I Can't Believe It's Not Butter.

Geraldine Granger: Oh, yeah.

Alice: Well, you know, I can't believe it's not butter.

Geraldine Granger: Yeah, well, I believe that is the idea, yeah.

Alice: Then yesterday I went to Kirkenden and I bought this other stuff, like a sort of home brand, you know.

Geraldine Granger: Yes?

Alice: And, you know, I can't believe it's not I Can't Believe It's Not Butter.

Geraldine Granger: Mmmm?

[pause]

Geraldine Granger: I'm losing you now.

Alice: Oh, right. Well, you know I Can't Believe It's Not Butter?

Geraldine Granger: Yeah, yeah, yeah, you think it is butter.

Alice: No, no. I mean, you know the stuff that I can't believe is not butter is called I Can't Believe It's Not Butter?

Geraldine Granger: Probably, yeah, yeah.

Alice: Well, I can't believe the stuff that is not I Can't Believe It's Not Butter is not I Can't Believe It's Not Butter. And I can't believe that both I Can't Believe It's Not Butter and the stuff that I can't believe is not I Can't Believe It's Not Butter are both, in fact, not butter. And I believe... they both might be butter... in a cunning disguise. And, in fact, there's a lot more butter around than we all thought there was.

elQuintoConyo · 24/02/2018 18:13

I can't believe i can't believe it's not butter.

@icelolly99 @youarenotkiddingme you're welcome. She was a true talent.

off to watch VofD box set

Heratnumber7 · 24/02/2018 18:25

What "natural causes" would one die of at 53? It's an odd way to give cause of death.

ilovechocolates · 24/02/2018 18:29

Well to me it would suggest an illness such as pneumonia or a heart attack, as opposed to it being drink or drug related.

ladybird69 · 24/02/2018 18:30

So sad, such a talented actress, she was one of a very few actresses/characters that could actually make me cry with laughter. Sending loving thoughts to her poor husband and family. RIP

RJnomore1 · 24/02/2018 18:51

It's been a sad day and that's made it even sadder

RIP Emma

Martyngibson · 24/02/2018 18:59

Bloody hell. Had she been ill?

MurielsBottom · 24/02/2018 19:02

I am saddened to read this. Emma Chambers was a fantastic actress. I loved her in the VofD and my dc do to. She popped up in The Bill once playing a straight role and was fabulous in that too. Amazing talent!
