Me me me!!!
I used to love old Star Trek - Mostly Deep Space 9, voyager and Next Generation and it really reminded me of those but with more modern humour. I tried watching the newest Star Trek and hated it.
But LOVE the Orville. It’s fills the category of Sci-Fi series that doesn’t take itself too seriously or have complex back stories!

Orville lovers in this house too.

I'm disappointed by it. The first one was quite funny but it has sacrificed funny for being bashed over the head with worthiness. Sad I keep watching it though in the hope that it will get funny again.

Silverstreaks · 24/02/2018 09:27

Yep, I'm loving it too.
It has great balance. I'm pleased my preconception was wrong, I thought it was going to be really spoofy and it's not.

MephistophelesApprentice · 24/02/2018 09:32

It's delicious, feels perfectly like TNG in terms of stories, themes but with wonderfully imperfect characters for contrast.

I thought it was going to be silly but I LOVE that it's kind of serious Star Trek with a funny side...
Seatbelts!!!!

Cupid's Dagger is the funniest one so far.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 24/02/2018 13:22

The Orville is great - and fits right in!

EdmundSlackbladder · 09/03/2018 16:22

I love it!

BrieAndChilli · 18/03/2018 14:37

Just finished watching it and really really enjoyed it. It doesn’t take itself too seriously and actually I think it’s more Star Trekkie than the the new Star Trek series!!

iklboo · 18/03/2018 14:57

I don't really get on with Discovery. Not sure why. Maybe it's Michael Burnham burying her face in her neck, raising her eyebrows and growling her lines all the time.

ShortandAnnoying · 18/03/2018 15:02

I like this too. I agree it's more Star Trekky than the new Star Trek. I keep watching that and expecting more jokes now.

DioneTheDiabolist, strange. I watched the first episode and didn't get on with it at all, wasn't going to bother with it further, but DH persuaded me to stick with it and, from episode 2 onwards, I've been really enjoying it, as is DS. We've still got about four episodes left to watch though.
