So is ER any good these days?

I went cold turkey on ER when the second helicopter fell on Romano.

Is it actually any good now? Addictive? Heartpounding? Or just annoying?

It's not as bad as that any more, but it does suffer from characters suddenly behaving in completely uncharacteristic and bizarre ways to suit the needs of the plot. A bit like Neighbours.

Does Abby ever drink now, or has that disappeared now that John thingy is no longer there to co-depend with?

I don't think she does drink. But sometimes people Test Her by offering her a drink, and she has to Refuse Knowingly. Or an alcoholic patient will come in, and Abby will offer Very Sensible Advice on their treatment, but will be Tragically Ignored.

At least that Croatian puddle of non-talent is leaving soon, though. There is a new character, Gates, who I think is supposed to be the new man-totty, and the man playing him actually appears to be able to act his way out of a paper bag.

I'm quite enjoying ER at the moment. There is a super villainous brilliant surgeon (Crenshaw?) who almost makes up for Romano, who I loved. Morris is very funny and I like the way he has been written as initially unspeakably annoying but increasingly sympathetic.

Ooh yes, you're right about Morris. He started off an annoying caricature, but he has actually developed into something rather loveable.

Good news about Morris because he was just ridiculous at the start.

Oh bugger the acting, how can you not like looking at the Croat??!! How does he go, now that I know he's going might as well find out how. Can't even look at the screen if there's a sound of a helicopter!
