Just to let any Montalbano fans know there is a new drama on Walter Presents on All 4 which might interest you. It's called Maltese Mafia Dectective, set in Sicily in the mid 70s. It's grittier than Montalbano and is minus the humour and the travel brochure settings but so far it's very good. Rather an attractive leading man too

With the exception the leading man your description of the new drama doesn't sound very much like Montalbano

Well handy I thought that as it's a crime drama, set in Sicily, in Italian with a strong lead dectective it might appeal to Montalbano fans.

Sorry, OP, not criticising you, I'm sure the new one is great too, I just can't hide my massive disappointment that Montalbano is only a few episodes at a time.

Sorry handy. Me too. Mind you I'm a sucker for any subtitled drama. Walter Presents has some great stuff, usually so much better than British dramas which often start great but have a rubbish end. I'll be very disappointed if Maltese has a poor finish.
