I’ve just rewatched The West Wing Two Cathedrals. Please tell me there’s other tv shows that come close to this that I just haven’t seen yet.

For me this has got to be one of the greatest episodes of one of the greatest shows ever made. Alongside early ER, nothing else has yet come close to blowing me away like the acting and writing esp in this episode. Please tell me what you all found that filled the gap left by such tv genius. I probably watch TWW once every couple of years but I need something new to raise my emotions. Something to make me cry and marvel at the same time. Thank you. Smile

Never seen The West Wing and was only chuntering to dh last night that we’ve nothing to fall back on. But, since reading these comments, I’ve think we’re sorted!
We’ve already ‘done’ those mentioned; our favourite being The Sopranos.
Totally understand where people have felt envy at those that have yet to watch!

The Wire, I still haven't got over it years later, loved it from beginning to end.

Just finished the French cop/legal drama Spiral season 6. I've watched those from the beginning and am in love with all the characters in that too.

Omg! Was browsing Telly addicts for Netflix recommendations and came across this thread!

Battlestar Galatica is The Best TV I have EVER seen.

We watched it twice in a row. We were up til 2am on work nights cause we could not turn it off.

I have never seen any thing else come close.

So pleased other people think the same!

Have not seen WW. Have the box set but never watched it. Will pull it out tonight Grin

The West Wing is epic. The only show that has come close to it for me was The Shield, which has some epic epic episodes, but a final season so very bleak that I spent a great part of it with tears streaming down my face going 'no... no.... no...!' Amazingly written, acted and directed and something I will never ever put myself through watching again.

I think DH and I might be busting out some WW tonight now thanks to this thread - just discussing which episode to start with. I have a hankering for some woot canaw

Loved loved loved TWW. Would love to re watch but so much TV so little time!

We’ve recently started Grays Anatomy. Loving it. Alternating a series of that with a series of Scandal. Which is not as good imho. I find some of way Olivia speaks really irritating. She speaks so fast and doesn’t pause for breath sometimes and it’s so weird and irritating once I started noticing it. It’s as if she learned her lines and is getting them out as fast as possible as if she’s trying to eat a timer. She’s not the only one but she seems to do it most.

I like Madam Secretary but yes it’s lighter than TWW.

Started watching Six Feet Under years ago but gave up. Might persevere if it’s worth it.
