Just catching up on yesterday's episode and can't help but think the series has just gone down the pan. The original idea was good but now it just seems like the men have the most ridiculous ideas that, I think, make a mockery of the whole thing. Plus, half the time they're not legally married and have to do it all over again at a later date. I don't see the point apart from a) showing off and b) getting the £14k. Was it's biggest fan in the beginning and now......😬

I'm just watching it too! Completely stupid. It's definitely had its day.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 18/01/2018 19:51

It’s just a competition to see who can be the most ridiculous these days.

Starlight2345 · 18/01/2018 19:53

Yep I watched it last night . I thought it was ridiculous.

This guy is a prick!

someone I have on Facebook was on it and said they're told what to do/say and the ideas aren't actually theirs and the stupidity of all the men is an act!

I know, I wonder if the producers tell them they HAVE to make it as eccentric as possible for ratings? The wives to be generally seem to want the polar opposite of what their partners plan. I actually felt so sorry for the last woman - I know she didn’t pull any punches (!) but I don’t really blame her. It feels like a complete set up now. The only part I genuinely enjoy is when the bride to be gets to see her dress!

Ginger1982 · 18/01/2018 20:49

If you look back at early series the ideas weren't all that out there but I suppose it's a ratings grab like everything else to make it as stupid as possible!

A friend of ours was on the show a few years back and there was one very specific thing his bride wanted but she was very laid back about the rest. He bought the specific thing for her but the producers took it away as it apparently went against the rules of it being fully the grooms idea. Apparently they do a lot to derail anything remotely sensible throughout the planning process. This was back when it was a bbc3 programme so things may have changed but by the look of the last few episodes it seems only the crazy ideas are acceptable, I did think the fake church wedding was in bad taste and I cannot understand why the vicar agreed given that any other time the church are very reluctant to allow any wedding at such short notice!

I completely agree! The ideas are beyond ridiculous these days. Like the guy who break the record for most pigs in one place... just dumb.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 19/01/2018 14:54

People want their chance for fame. They get it. I still watch it even though I know it’s complete bollocks.

Ginger1982 · 19/01/2018 18:50

My favourite was a Scottish one (not the skydiving/Kirkie miners one) but the one where they end up at Wickerman festival. She was a complete bridezilla!

I totally agree. When it first started the most controversial thing that happened was a groom choosing orange as the colour theme after the bride to be stated she hated orange.

It's all so false. All the brides want to be 'a princess for the day' with a traditional wedding and reception. They know when they go on this programme that isn't going to happen so all the faux drama and tears seems so pointless and contrived.

I just think 'just admit it'. You're not bothered about getting married you just want your 15 minutes if fame and getting your mush on tv!!! ???
