BBC4 on a Tuesday, 8.30pm.

It was two nights ago and I'm still amused by the perfectly pompous pedantry.

It's a quiz. They had a whole round on the correct use of apostrophes.

Has anyone else seen this?

Yes - not recently, but I find it very entertaining.

AitchTwoOh · 26/04/2007 23:05

it's awful, absolutely awful. and i'm a pedant.

AitchTwoOh · 26/04/2007 23:06

although i have just mis-spelled sacrilegious on an OP and now wish to clean my naked body with neat bleach as a penance...

Mis-typing in a forum is acceptable. Or is that very Non-Pedant of me?

Mis-typing? (sp? Suddenly not sure of that one!)

oh god i'm not sure if i mis-typed or mis-spelled... the second time i wrote it i got it right - that must indicate a typo mustn't it? [hopeful]

Pedant panic.

But I still like the programme... Can never understand the people in the dialect bit though.

I've seen this. I thought my DH and I were the only people in the world who had ever seen it (or maybe I just never dared mention it to anyone). It is the kind of programme that could only ever be on BBC4.

One of my favourite put-downs overheard at work, when someone was exasperated at being corrected:

"Oh, I really hate pedanticism"

"I think you'll find that's pedantry"
