TV has been pretty poor this Xmas and I could do with a really good laugh. Anyone got any recommendations?

The Alan Partridge retrospective on iPlayer is good. Also the film Alpha Papa. Would I Lie to You always reliably funny IMO.

Heratnumber7 · 01/01/2018 16:38

Just about any of the Morecombe and Wise reruns/documentaries!

PurplePillowCase · 01/01/2018 16:39

the christmas carol gone wrong was hilarious.

blueskypink · 01/01/2018 16:57

Purple - I'm afraid I found A Christmas Carol a huge disappointment after Peter Pan Goes Wrong last year. I think that's what set me off asking for recommendations on here. But thanks for the suggestion!

Only really funny thing I've seen over the holiday period is the Xmas edition of A League of their Own. Now that really was funny!

The new League of Gentlemen was good imho. Agree about the Alan Partridge documentary, made me howl.

Madbengalmum · 01/01/2018 17:03

Alan partridge, and the detectorists.

Trolled Christmas special on sky was funny

CourtneyLoveIsMySpiritAnimal · 01/01/2018 18:26

Did a belly laugh at Vic n Bob even though I'd heard the jokes before. They aren't to everyone's taste though.

Other than that, League of Gentlemen. It was so good to see them back on screen.

Year in the life of a Year

Blueboo0814 · 01/01/2018 23:24

Alan Partridge, Vic and Bob!!!

fussychica · 02/01/2018 08:52

Would I lie to you? Had us laughing the most.

Oblomov18 · 02/01/2018 09:37

League of gentleman.

Is that all we can come up with? ShockHmmSeriously, the Christmas tv this year was beyond shocking.

blueskypink · 02/01/2018 10:18

Never watched Trollied before so watched the Xmas special. Amazed at what a stellar cast it had and it make me smile - but I'm after something that will make me weep with laughter (eg W1A, Peter Pan Goes Wrong or Sheila's lemonade in The Detectorists).

Never much cared for Viv and Bob or Alan Partridge I'm afraid!

.... or League of Gentlemen

they reshowed the Philomena Cunk Christmas special from last year - had us in stitches again...

PuppyMonkey · 02/01/2018 11:33

The only other thing that makes me laugh without fail these days is Would I Lie to You? Not sure if there was even a Christmas special this year, but I bet there are some old episodes on iplayer.

Yep, Christmas telly is usually shocking isn't it - i admit I didn't get a chance to see that much as I had annoying guests lingering around all week. But a glance at the Xmas Radio Times wasn't very inspiring anyway.
