One of my favorite films. Truly twisted and funny and just...everything!

keepingbees · 30/12/2017 13:30

I watched it too as I've just read the book and enjoyed it. Wasn't keen on the ending though, I wanted her caught Grin

Firenight · 30/12/2017 13:34

Worth a watch? I hated the last third of the book.

RainbowPastel · 30/12/2017 23:16

Very weird film. I didn't enjoy it at all.

Gileswithachainsaw · 30/12/2017 23:21

Didn't think to much of the film tbh

Strange unnecessary close up in the shower Hmm

Relied too heavily on a reasonably famous cast. Bit of a shitty story line she was nuts

IfYouDontImagineNothingHappens · 31/12/2017 08:01

The book is better! Try that

keepingbees · 31/12/2017 21:14

Agree the book is better. Found the film a bit slow.
Though found them both slow to get into, good in the middle, then hurried at the end and the ending is pretty lame.

SheGotOffThePlane · 31/12/2017 21:16

Oh I have to disagree - I thought the film was rubbish. Rosamund Pike was extremely wooden. Book is fantastic though.

EBearhug · 31/12/2017 21:23

They're both awful, book and film, with no likeable characters.

Sparklesdontshine · 31/12/2017 21:25

I loved the film and book!

Kannet · 01/01/2018 14:40

I love the ending. I can't understand why people hate it. It's just so dark

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 01/01/2018 14:51

If I didn’t like the book, should I not bother with the film?

extinctspecies · 01/01/2018 16:29

Watched the film last night.

Could someone please explain how she was able to get pregnant at the end?

Quite enjoyed it, although it was all a bit silly!

LemonBreeland · 01/01/2018 16:31

I hated the book but have recorded the film. I'm in two minds about watching it though.

I struggled with the book because there is not odne character to warm to.

GuntyMcGee · 01/01/2018 16:54

Hated the book and the film. The story could have been a good one if there was anything likeable about either of the main characters.

newmobile · 01/01/2018 17:06

Book definitely better than the film. worth a read if you get chance.

LoniceraJaponica · 01/01/2018 17:08

IMO the book is the most overrated book I have ever read. I missed the end of the film, but what I saw was OK, not great, just OK.

extinctspecies · 01/01/2018 17:11

Ahem. Those of you who watched the film and/or read the book, please can someone answer my questions above? Thank you.

TheSpottedZebra · 01/01/2018 17:16

extinct she used his sperm that he'd banked when they were looking into ivf a few years earlier. Do you remember that he'd received a a letter about destroying the sperm that had been held for a few years? He found the letter in the bin.

SandyDenny · 01/01/2018 17:18

If you didn't like the book I can't see you liking the film, iirc the film is pretty true to the book

extinctspecies · 01/01/2018 17:22

Ah. Thanks Zebra. That detail passed me by (I was well into my 2nd bottle of wine).

I also fund a lot of the dialogue really hard to hear. DS watches a lot of TV with subtitles now, I understand why.

TheSpottedZebra · 01/01/2018 17:35

The sound was SO BAD! The balance seemed off - the background noise drowned out Affleck's mumblings.

Quickchange1 · 01/01/2018 18:03

I loved both. The toxicity of relationships explored in such a dark way. The 'cool girl' monologue
