Can't believe this was on Channel 5 tonight, with hardly any publicity. A really good adaptation of a classic Christie. Why was it not the highlight of BBC' s or ITV's Christmas schedule?

I’m trying to follow it but I’m not that gripped to be honest. I couldn’t give a shit about any of them, I don’t care who did it really.

i was shocked by who did it

Clawdy · 18/12/2017 09:43

Remember reading the book years ago, and being shocked by the ending. Apparently her publisher asked her to change it and she refused. It's a cleverly written novel, and I thought it worked well. Glenn Close was really good.

Anyone else know why it had no advance publicity?....last year's Christie adaptation was hugely popular.

Considering most of the dross on TV these days I thought it was rather good and was shocked by the ending.

Autumnchill · 18/12/2017 21:17

It's on Catch up and repeated Sunday at 6pm.

I saw it had started and like you, couldn't believe it hadn't been advertised.

Looking forward to settling down with a mince pie and trying to guess whodunnit!

Loved it. someone at work had told me that it had been pulled because of all the sexual harassment complaints against someone, I forget his name, but I’m pretty sure he wasn’t even in it. So I’m not sure what she meant. Anyway was glad to see it and dd2 managed to figure it out so she was really pleased.

It was the BBC Christie drama "Ordeal by Innocence" that was pulled, for accusations against one of the stars. Bet they wish they had gone with Crooked House instead.

I liked it.
Remembered another adaptation halfway through that reminded me who did it. There had been a sex change of the character though.

youngestisapsycho · 18/12/2017 23:30

I read somewhere that it was made for a cinema release but Channel 5 bought the rights to It? Something like that anyway....

I quite enjoyed it as well.

What other adaptation was there?

The ending seemed familiar to me.

Notonthestairs · 20/12/2017 21:32

I recorded and watched it last night- loved it especially how they tailored the rooms to the personalities and they used the interiors generally. Fab adaptation.

ImListening · 21/12/2017 23:20

Really enjoyed this. Knew who had done it as I read it years ago. Very strong cast I thought for a channel 5 production. Could easily have been on Christmas Day.

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 22/12/2017 11:20

I just couldn’t warm to it and I guessed half way through who the murderer was. Sorry Agatha.

babigailwabble · 31/12/2017 23:22

can't believe it's not on 5 on demand 😒
