a few questions re doctor who

can someoone help out a confused person here.
the doctors sonic screwdriver got ruined on the moon. the first episode with martha. so how come he has it back on new earth?

who is the face of boe? id dnt see the first series episode he was introduced in, so confused about this.

why does every sincle episode have to be about saving the earth from destruction?

why do people tak ethe motorway when it would be faster to walk, crawl, bottom shuffle?
who is susan, and the talk about repopulating the earth on the other doctor who thread.

IMO you either 'do' docotr who and know everything or you flit around not paying attention but have to let all that stuff wash over you.

SOnic screwdriver - he fixed it in the TARDIS or got another one there, can't remember which.

The face of Bo is an enigma like the dr. He is the only one of his species and no one else remembers his race (I think they are so far back in time that he was the only one left by the time everyone else was around). Basically he is revered and everyone seems to know him, but no one knows anything about him. There are prophecies about him.

Why is every episode about saving the earth? cos the writers are sloppy and not very imaginative.

Why do people take the motorway? Because it was the only way out of the city and the pollution and lack of pedestrian access meant that in a car was the only way to travel. Plus they were idiots.

Do you mean Susan as in the Doctor's grand-daughter back in the William Hartnell days?

Face of Boe appeared in the Cassandra episodes, just a big old face who was millions of years old and had a message to pass on to the Doctor before he died.

Saving the earth from destruction - pretty much the Doctor's reason for existence.

Motorway - all exits closed, no way out.

The doctor has lost his sonic screwdriver before and has made a new one - he's probably got a stock of them in the Tardis by now.

Susan is the doctor's grand-daughter, who was the means of introducing the doctor's first companions , Ian and Barbara - they were her teachers at a school she had persuaded her grandgather to let her go to - she was apparently about 15. They were curious about why she knew so much about some things - science etc and so little about others - eg she thought Britain already had decimal coins in 1963. They followed her home & discovered that 'home' was the Tardis.

In the second series, they came to Earth in 2164 & found it had been invaded by the daleks, who had first reduced the population of Earth with some kind of plague and were now mining down to the centre of the earth (starting in Bedfordshire for some unknown reason) with the intention of replacing its core with a drive system so they could pilot it around the universe.

A lot of the population had died, more had been turned into Robomen,who controlled the
survivors being used as a slave labour force to do the mining.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, the Doctor foiled the plan with the aid of a band of freedom fighters and then discovered Susan had fallen instantly in love with one of them in the usual way of the Doctor's companions who need to be written out.

So they were left in london in 2164 and may very possibly have had children, who are half Time Lord, half human and therefore the Doctor is still the last Time Lord, but he's not alone because they would be his great-grandchildren.

Of course, there is also still Romana, who was a Time lady companion to Tom Baker and was left in ESpace, so may possibly return....

Face of Boe met the Dr 3 times 1st was 'end of the world' 2nd was 'New earth ' and 3rd was 'Gridlock' he was said to be 'thousands of years old and before he dies he would reveal his secrect to a wanderer a man without a home' That man being the Dr and the secret 'you are not alone' but morewill come into that in the series.

Susan- as Rustybear said but I think if she/her family were time lords they would have been called to the Time War anyway so would prob have died with the rest

Hasn't there been a teaser somewhere in the last series, something about the Doctor having had a son at some point? Don't think there's ever been anything else said about Susan's parents. Presumably the son or his family will show up at some point, or we will learn more about their fate.

I wondered if the 'you are not alone' thing could refer to the Master? Dh reckons the Master would not be a full Time Lord at some stage between regenerations - apparently there is a back story about this.

They couldn't walk instead of driving on the motorway because of the extreme pollution. Even I picked that point up and I was half asleep during the episode!

The Dr said last series 'I was a father once' and in 'Smith and Jones' Martha asked him if he had a brother and he said 'not any more'
The Master is apparantly part kraken though the last time he was seen he was dead again!But there is a possiblilty he could possess a human body or just control one .
