Group Captain Townsend, Jenny Lee, desperately trying to get their previous characters out of my head.

Liking it so far, not a period I know much about.

That's interesting girlsonfilm as when the doctor said to her "It's not what you think," I wondered if she was ill and that's why she wanted to go off with Honor. The whole twins explanation did sound odd coupled with the poor comment about Page having been a twin. Liver disease, given her consumption of alcohol probably for months/years, could be likely.

Peregrina · 24/10/2017 17:21

But do you think she made up the story about twins, not being able to tell Honor the truth?

GirlsonFilm · 24/10/2017 17:40

Yes I think as Alison had already told Honor that she was pregnant she needed a reason to explain her reaction.

PollyHasAKettle · 24/10/2017 17:41

Girls I did wonder about him saying 'its not what you think' and now you have me thinking!

Rhubarb01 · 24/10/2017 17:42

I think she possibly did lie peregrina but the truth will out one way or another eventually.

oklookingahead · 24/10/2017 17:46

Interesting, I too had assumed the doc had told Alison she was ill - afraid I thought it was cancer. And that was why alison wanted to drive into the desert etc. But when she mentioned the twins to Honor I thought I must have misinterpreted.

I don't think Alison hates Laithwaite does she? - they had a fairly affectionate conversation at one point. I think she has just been incredibly bored in Aden - and not surprisingly when you come to think of it, and the affair and the alcohol are the result of that, and meant that she was already in a 'bit of a state' even before discovering that she was pregnant.

diddl · 25/10/2017 17:37

Yes, he told her that it wasn't what she thought.

She thought that she was pregnant?

So therefore not pregnant?

ohthegoats · 26/10/2017 23:28

I've just caught up with this. Yes, I'd say it's 'something else'.

The Laithwaites have made reference to things that happened in Berlin, so there is definitely much more of the story to come out.

eauclair · 28/10/2017 06:35

*CoolCarrie

said "I really hope Mary won't die, especially after last week and her sweet little boy being shot at! "

Nobody seemed to report that to anybody! Surely more fuss would be made.

ohthegoats · 29/10/2017 21:26

Oh, so she IS pregnant.

MyOtherProfile · 29/10/2017 21:32

Was just coming on to say the same thing goats!

WipsGlitter · 29/10/2017 21:35

Oh Mr BP man caught lying!!! Interesting...

MyOtherProfile · 29/10/2017 21:45

Yes so what was Mr BP man really doing?

And who's the bloke in the reservoir dogs outfit?

ohthegoats · 29/10/2017 21:45

Is this the last one?

WipsGlitter · 29/10/2017 21:52

No. One more night XX week.

WipsGlitter · 29/10/2017 21:53

One more next week.

ohthegoats · 29/10/2017 21:56

No clue on reservoir dogs guy...

Hauntedlobster · 29/10/2017 22:00

This has really had me hooked. But I hope they don’t do another series.

Peregrina · 29/10/2017 22:05

A trivial observation from me, but the hospital had vertical blinds, which I don't think had been invented in the early 60s - they would have had Venetian blinds.

ohthegoats · 29/10/2017 22:09

Why not another series?

Frazzled2207 · 29/10/2017 22:20

spoiler alert

think it’s broadly excellent, I suspected there would be a bit of an outcry if anything horrid happened to the boy in a prime time sunday spot so was hopeful it wouldn’t happen.

But am annoyed that given the weather nobody is wearing sunglasses or hats! Is it because it wouldn’t be helpful to the camera
(As difficult to see faces) or did they really not wear them??

Also not seeing any fans about.
Pretty sure without aircon (I assume) they would have relied on them.
But again don’t work well on camera (noisy?)

oklookingahead · 29/10/2017 22:30

How could they have been surprised that Captain Martin was arrested? If anything it took the army quite a surprisingly long time to get round to it! Can't see how he can (realistically) get off, tbh.

Yes, what was BP man doing (meeting reservoir dogs man is my suspicion); and was reservoir dogs man intending to execute the prisoner, or what was his function? Shady.

Ceto · 29/10/2017 23:09

The modern version of vertical blinds was invented in 1950 - www.google.co.uk/patents/US2520272

Ceto · 29/10/2017 23:10

Am I imagining it, or did Alison tell the doc that she could feel fluttering movements? Wouldn't that make her around 16 weeks pregnant at least? She's unbelievable thin if that's the case.

Mind you, those unfortunate twins will be lucky to escape foetal alcohol poisoning if they survive.

Hauntedlobster · 29/10/2017 23:11

Ohthegoats - doctor foster has ruined all second series for me...
