Anyone see it this week?

What a poor season opener. I don't think I laughed once.

I'm hoping that it was all about scene-setting in ep1 and that it'll pick up. It's such a good series - just the right balance of drama and comedy. I do wish they hadn't killed off Rob though.

cushioncovers · 18/09/2017 08:25

Disappointed. It's lost its sharp wittiness that it had in the first two series. Think I'm gonna give it a miss which is sad because I've watched all the previous shows.

Wheelerdeeler · 18/09/2017 18:27

I agree. Such a shame. Ruth Jones used to be so good

Oh it was terrible, her acting is so poor
The storylines feel like they've been done before
I'm not sure I can bear it

I only watch for aunty Brenda as she sounds just like dd's nana Grin

squirre1 · 18/09/2017 22:58

Did I miss the bit where she slept with rob?? I could only remember her being tempted but saying she couldn't cheat on Michael.

Wheelerdeeler · 19/09/2017 22:56

We never saw her sleep with Rob.

At least I'm not going mad then Grin

Aderyn17 · 20/09/2017 20:32

It's obvious she couldn't think of a decent new storyline so just pulled Rob being the baby's dad out of her arse a la Dallas back in the 80's!
It was all disjointed, with no connection between the characters - they've lost too many key people, like Emma, Paula, Dai and Karl. Nadine doesn't seem to have a purpose and all Auntie Brenda does is shout. She gets far too much airtime.
I miss the early seasons - they were fab.
Still, Michael is a good addition - he reminds me of my teaching mentor when I did my pgce god, he was fit

mirage937 · 21/09/2017 21:22

I liked it when her daughter (think she was called Emma) was having the affair with James Thornton who's wife was a hairdresser or something ?

What happened in this week's episode ?

Aderyn17 · 21/09/2017 21:37

Stella told Michael about the baby being Rob's. Confirmed with dna test.

Tigresswoods · 24/09/2017 06:32

I’ve watched from the beginning but I’m starting to lose patience with the show... it’s all a bit ridiculous really.

cushioncovers · 24/09/2017 10:52

Along with those cringeworthy Tesco ads it's all a bit disappointing compared to her Gavin and Stacey days.

I haven't watched it for such a long time. I don't find it remotely funny.

ellenanora5 · 24/09/2017 18:41

Its really bad now, don't think I'll bother with it anymore, also I thought Michael wasn't Jackson's father, maybe I missed an episode last series.

I wish big Alan and Karl were still in it, Aunty Brenda gets on my nerves.

Wheelerdeeler · 26/09/2017 22:37

Where did Stella's nan come from? Never mentioned before.

Beyonce and keckers turning up at the meal? And no one kicking them out?

Ah so much annoying me about it

Aderyn17 · 27/09/2017 07:16

Stella is bugging me too. Who comes home with a foster child and doesn't run it by their husband first? Social services wouldn't let it happen anyway. And just expecting her dh to get over finding out that the baby isn't his after 5 mins!

FeralBeryl · 28/09/2017 14:02

Anyone see last nights?
I am so disappointed with this series now. I binged watched from series 1 last week and was so excited but meh.

She's not acting remotely sorry to my beautiful Michael over how she's acted Sad
Characters are crap. Storylines lacking. What's happened?

Loopytiles · 28/09/2017 20:23

The baby being rob's storyline is crappy.

Oakmaiden · 28/09/2017 20:26

My daughter is actually in this series, and even then I'm not sure I can be bothered watching any of them...

FeralBeryl · 28/09/2017 21:51

Ooh really Oak How exciting, will you spill who she is?

GoldenGumballs · 29/09/2017 08:58

I only watch it for Nadine, Beyoncé and Banjo!

Vq1970 · 29/09/2017 09:10

I've watched it from the beginning as well and was exciting for the new series but it's definitely lost something. I'll keep watching it but it's not as good and it's a little bit unbelievable. I know it's tv and isn't real but there are too many things going on that you just think, nope, that wouldn't happen.

Aunty Brenda is annoying!

Oakmaiden · 29/09/2017 10:58

Nah, she is not a named character. She loved filming though - the director made up a complex little story for her and her friends to act out in the background while the real action was going on in front. she has been in it a couple of times over the years.

I do feel bad - I have only ever watched something she has been in on TV once. Mostly she gets parts in Pobol y Cwm and Gwaith Catref, and my Welsh is not great so I can't really even be bothered to work out when it is on. She loves being paid for her hobby though!

youngestisapsycho · 29/09/2017 12:17

It really is shit now.... didn't the guy who owns the pub get married last series to the woman who was cleaning for him??
